  1. I agree with Krill it is shinto , and is gimei to appear older. Tom D.

  4. Really, this is a hamon? I must be going blind! This is getting serious, am I missing something that is called a hamon? Whatever, good luck. TomD.
  5. We all started off studying swords, with no knowledge at all, it is a reasonable (good) eye opener for you to make wiser choices in the future. Condition, condition is most important. Good Luck. Tom D.
  6. Steve, I couldn't of said it better. "Ho-hum-hum." Tom D. I
  7. Michael, If you need another apprentice, I am available after the pandemonium subsides, sometime after the elections. But, not on Japanese swords. You have some very nice blades. Tom D.
  8. The shinogi longs Yamato to me? Tom D.
  9. Steve, you have a catch 22 situation. Having a window open on the blade, whether one side or both, doesn't tell you everything. This could be a serious mistake, either way. If it turns out looking good, doesn't guarantee it has no flaws. If it turns out terrible, you'd wouldn't be able to get a fair offer, as , less buyers would show any interest. Pitching it the way it is, would guarantee a better outcome. Good luck. Peace. Tom D.
  10. Could simply be a conflict of interest, on a faulted , consignee transaction. Which, will eventually be worked out, I hope. Peace. Tom D.
  11. There is nothing wrong with your eyes. Tom D.
  12. For example, knowing the quality of the blade, takes a long period of time ( hundreds of blades) to reasonably understand, what you have in hand, with two good eyes and proper lighting. When this is accomplished you'll be near knowing half as much of what you don't know. Some collectors, can take a blade out of the scabbard five to ten inches (only) to determine if it's worth further study. Good luck. Happy Trail's. Peace. Tom D.
  13. This package is a real shiner that would go big in Harlem. IMHO. Tom D.
  14. Did you here of the guy that woke up in the morning, he went to the washroom and looked in the mirror, finding an ice-pick in his head. He had removed in the hospital, making out a police report. The guilty party, you guess it was his loving wife. He wouldn't press charges, as he was still in love with her, and went home to his devoted wife. What a guy. Amen. Tom D.
  15. Mune-machi & Ha-machi are not in line. Tom D.
  16. I would be concerned an attribution (mumei) on a low ranked smith to be fine. As it very well could be re-submitted to high rated smith, which has been the case. Tom D.
  17. I'd like to know if you have the seppa tsuba that would fit this blade? Tom D.
  18. Jacques, I would never have guest of 1st gen Muramasa, It is the most serene 1st gen. I have ever seen. Completely different from tanto (active) hamon of 1st. gen. Thank you for showing. Tom D.
  19. Shinto, similiar to Kunisuke, I agree with Robert. Peace Tom D.
  20. Like to see both sides of tsuba. Thanks. Tom D.
  21. It appears to be suriage, make it seem older, but, maybe ubu! Tom D.
  22. Peter, thank you very much for your most interesting contributions on swords, etc. Peace. Tom D.
  23. Robert, You made a good point, if Tsuruta said, "never seen one like it." That is a tip off. Tom D.
  24. I respectfully would call the horimono, 'Jimmy Doolittle Bomb Craters.' It serves as a reminder of commemorating, The Memory of their Ancestors. Peace. Tom D.
