  1. Bjorn, you do realize the ha-machi is damaged. I believe it will need to be moved up, along with muni-machi. You will not get papers on a gimei sword. The Ishido school made works in the style of Bizen den. Also, Gassan Sadayoshi made work styles of Bizen Den. In the bo-hi (shinogi-ji) the masame grain or parallel grain is a very strong characteristic of shinto blades. Good luck. Tom D.
  2. Me think, shinshito, any believers? Cheers. Tom D.
  3. Bruce, the kao, should be the maker? I've never seen a cutting test with kao! This would be a first. Tom D.
  4. Adam, there is one detail, I would like to view, if you would take a couple pic of the kassaki area, without the glare. Thank you. Tom D.
  5. Yes, I have seen others, and the blades had no hamon. I don't know if it's possible. to have a hamon, I doubt it. Tom D.corrected
  6. I thought it would be, congratulations. Peace. Tom D.
  7. I believe the tsuba is ok?! use a magnet. Tom D.
  8. Mishina san, is, in my opinion top shelf. Polished two blades that went Juyo. Take care. Tom D.
  9. Robert, It should have a strong (visible) midare utsuri in the tight skin Ji , which is the hallmark of the early Bizen school. You have very nice tachi. Tom D.
  10. Adam, I've sent many to Japan, and never placed a monetary value on any of them. Make it simple, Not for Sale, mumei / signed blade for NBTHK shinsa and polish. And return to sender! Tom D.
  11. I like the menuki very much. I meant to ask, would you take a pic of the other side of the menuki. Tom D.
  12. I knew of him, and heard all but good things of him, very sincere and generous with his knowledge. R.I.P. Ron.
  13. This is an ubu waki, right, not a katana? ? Tom D.
  14. Oh, I can take a nap now, peace and goodwill to everyone. Caio Tom D.
  15. Excellent Sadamune. Thank you for showing it. Tom D.
  16. Shannon H, Didn't you have an outstanding early Bizen Katana or tachi? You had it at the Florida show some years back, do you still have it? The name escapes me? Tom D.
  17. Hi all, it was simply a rhetorical question. To infer reason by deduction. I would imagine it being the case, or true or probable. Let me know after sever years. Just image if you had two of them. A Masamune and Mitsutada, let me know in three and half years. As described in the August 1966 issue of Saga. Remember, every time you take it out and put it (saya?) in, it becomes a serious problem, that you'll never get over, should something go awry. Does anybody really want to own one? Peace. Tom D.
  18. Go live with a Kokuho for seven years, and if you come back sane, let me know? A friend of mine, made me the same offer with his wife. i told him if I had to make a choice, I'd shoot myself! Tom D.
  19. Really, pic. now, from a museum of items you'd like to own, what a waste of space. A total overkill, if we all did that! I guess you can do what you want, but , just take it easy on showing pictures of items you don't have. Thank you. Peace. Tom D.
  20. I wouldn't at all be surprised that future regimes of experts, will invalidate them again. Life is like a box of chocolates. Good luck. Peace. Tom D.
  21. The main enjoyment of collecting Nihonto is in the hunt. After catching them ( monsters) is a great rush in owning them for awhile. The whales are returned to the ocean from which they came, is very satisfying. Go fishing have a good time dreaming what you might catch. The little fish take home. Owning a whale is an over-whelming status symbol that is not necessary to be happy, with, what you caught. TJ and kokuho are whales, is a great responsibility. Good luck. Tom D.
