South Manchurian Army Arsenal is 南滿陸軍造兵廠 also known as Nan-man Arsenal.

It appears that the Mantetsu blades with the "Nan" mark on the blade can be interpreted as having been independently manufactured by the South Manchurian Army Arsenal, which began production in the spring of Showa 18 (1943) and incorporated technology from the South Manchurian Railway. Additionally, during the tenure of Matsuoka Yosuke, the former president of Mantetsu, as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, many people from the Army were offended. This may have been one of the reasons that led the Kwantung Army to abandon Matsuoka Yosuke's "Koa Isshin" slogan.

An 95 were registered in Japan but the Ser# was ground off.

John, don't worry, I don't feel like you're being confrontational. I just think there are some confusing aspects of Japanese, such as the same pronunciation being able to correspond to different Kanji, or the same Kanji having different pronunciations in different combinations. Additionally, when swordsmiths share the same name, it can be a headache. We're all still learning

John I agree with you that they likely know each other. What I mean is, don't mistake Kinsaburo Hattori's building for Zenhiro Hattori's shop, just because both of them have the surname Hattori 服部。

This is what I meant by saying that some of the simplified Chinese information is fabricated.

Most of the information about Gunto in simplified Chinese was translated from some Japanese Sources and some of them just made an assumption. In this ad, it assume the Toyogawa Ancher mark is the used by 伊奈波神舍.
