  1. Rank is 軍曹 Sergeant。It dose have kanji 水上 ,it could be name of place or like what you think-Navy.
  2. Bruce I agree with you ,this is original copper handle NCO sword tang for sure.Maybe field repair instead of factory repair though, who knows.
  3. Tang from another sword with NO mekugi hole? Not likely.
  4. Matt, there are some blade like that, check these.
  5. Not put together but original with unmatched scabbard, maybe blade was cleaned. The fix of the end of the tang is the reason we saw some copper handle NCO and later NCO added a second mekugi hole on the tang.
  6. It's kind of hard to find Nco Sarute .You might use the wire Sarute for Type 98 if you can't find one for type 95.
  7. I‘m going to buy a copy
  8. It looks like 濃州住良光鍛之
  9. Yes, it's a little confusing, Both 俊光and敏光 pronouncing Toshimitsu.
  10. Bruce His sword made by 藤原兼直(Fujiwara Kanenao) instead of 石原兼直(Ishihara Kanenao)
  11. Bruce It's 備前國赤崎住俊光作(今泉俊光)not 敏光
  12. There is no signature on the tang of the NCO sword.
  13. It is Chinese copy
  14. There are some copper handle added second Mekugi hole like yours.
  15. Bruce 助宗 is not Seki smith. He is 備前國(備州)sword smith.I think he also called 備州長船助宗。
  16. I think is where the owner from
  17. Most of the writing very hard to read.I got few 軍曹?Sergeant 島本保雄(owner's name) 和歌山市(City WAKAYAMA)水X 一四一一(1411) 備前助宗(Sword smith)
  18. Just noticed One of my Copper handle 95 scabbard had these gold finish over the original army brown paint, most of the gold came off but you can still tell some the left on it.
  19. The last one of these presentations Gunto made by Chinese sold on eBay last year for around $600 if my memory is correct.
  20. Yes ,didn't have to have the mint condition Gunto, it looks fine ,as long as it's real WW2 sword.
  21. some officer had their sword hanger loose like this...
  22. Talking about shoulder strap.Check this out,not the official one .
  23. Thomas This is not for the Chinese Type 65. Not only becauseT65 has two rings of the leather piece on the scabbard, the one I showed has one ring on the leather piece, and it has an open space that allows the ring on the scabbard to go through. Also, the leather parts are too big for T65 and T32. Here is the photo of T65's.PLA might have copied the design of Type 95's hanger though.
  24. I found some photos of the leather hanger for Type 95, it might be for cavalry use. It's a little too big for Type 32. This style hanger is on Fuller's book P40. Nick has post price sheet of cavalry use Type 95 on here https://www.warrelics.eu/forum/Japanese-militaria/short-development-history-type-95-gunto-676112-19/ post #181
