dont know how well this translates, but babled it. Hello with all, I inform you qu' a tachi pertaining to a friend comes d' to be stolen on March 29, 2009. C' is a blade of 71 cm nagasa, style koto but the Edo period, hada in itame, line of hardening as a gunomist midare, point enters the KB and the chu kissaki. Detail important, it misses one or two mm with the point. Old polishing but without trace of rust; some marblings, left by a torsion. Blade mumei and suriage, nakago of brown patina/maroon, with 2 mekugi ana, termination in kiri (right). Mounting of tachi in paillettée lacquer, with dragonflies in low-relief, all them metal elements are engraved into cursive and copper covered d' however. Handle covered with silk with floral decoration and braided out of silk blue glossed, tsumami maki. Tsuba in three distinct and superimposed plates, and 4 seppas. Herewith a photograph. You can diffuse this message with all the people in the Japanese sabre, arts of the sabre or antiquities, thank you. If one presents this object to you, thank you to contact me immediately: Aurélien Frayssinhes 06 74 45 66 54

GS I understand you want a koto blade on the cheap, i am sure down the line that hunking fukura will bother you to no end, think about shoping around, my two marks for what its worth.
-
maybe you should have keep this sword in its own thread, it looks to be more than just a machine made blade, it would be nice to see the nakago on it, if your up to it.

Barry starting with the date I think it starts with Gin ji ji nen? maybe a zodiac date, not likely ji nen as I have been told the same kanji repeated would not be the same. -

always been fond of telling Westerners that in the East they see a rabbit in the moon instead of a man. In remembrance to Paul Harvey......the rest of the story. The reason why a rabbit is on the moon is described in the Buddhist story "Śaśajâtaka", where a monkey, an otter, a jackal, and a rabbit were friends. Together they resolved to practice charity on the Uposatha day (the day of fast), that was to occur on the following day. In the tradition it was believed that one who stood fast in moral practice and alms-giving on that day would earn a great reward. When an old man begged for food, the monkey was able to gather fruits from the trees, the otter was able to gather dead fish from the river bank, the jackal wrongfully pilfered a lizard and a pot of milk-curd from somebody’s house. The rabbit, wanting to offer something acceptable to the man, was only able to gather grass, and therefore offered its own body instead, and threw itself into a fire that the man built. The rabbit however did not get burned. The old man then revealed himself to be Śakra, and being touched by the rabbit's virtue, drew a picture of the rabbit on the moon to be visible to all. It is said that the smoke-like substance surrounding the lunar image is the smoke that rose when the rabbit cast itself into the fire. This story can be found in the Konjaku Monogatarishū, a Japanese collection of tales from India, China, and Japan. In this version, however, the rabbit's friends are a fox and a monkey.

[ this most likely be canned but it needs to be said. first off I want to say I have the utmost respect for knowledge acquired by both Reinhard and G-man, yes you have spent countless hours in study, your learning and retaining is great, some don't have that retention or experience, the point I'm getting to is, so your great we get it, its thinking that your so much greater and experienced than lowly beginners that makes us wonder what it is about that that brings out the above kind of /quote. Freeloaders are everywhere so we get come down on all because of that? from the way I see the world problems are from this kinda thinking, no unholy aliance ,,just a request to be decent to new learners, if taking baby steps do we knock them over or give a helping hand dont know what else can be said, have the last word its been a learning experience.
-
seems to be a trend here the more intel you have the more one can be a sarcastic bastard, i guess the newbie got schooled huh, oh well a lession is a lession, to bad we cant be hit on the back with a bamboo rod,,,that would make the new guys learn right quick, me im too old and set in my ways to change,,,,see Brian is back hope all is well ....read my sign off.
