  4. Hi, A: shima kasumi This sentence is woman's name or nickname of this sword. If it is this sword-nickname, the meaning is "Scenery where island on sea is misted". scenery of the blade? B: owner's name and stamp(kao).
  5. Hi George san, Oh yes, It contaeins Nagao Kunishiro, and also Ichihar Nagamitsu,Akimoto Akitomo,Tanaka yoshimitsu,---etc,. The Gunto-exhibition was opening in December 1944. As you know, The name-list of this Gunto-exhibition appeard on [Nihonto oyobi Nihonshumi] 1945,#1. Unfortunately, Oshigatas were not appeard in this issue.
  6. Hi All, I have swordsmiths-names list of Gunto exhibition in 1944. He was using "KatsuKiyo" mei at there.
  7. Hi all, Nice source the link !!, Moriyama san. I believe the description on the link . According to the description, Sadakane's personal name was Jinsaku. He was born in 1893,and died in 1953. Thereforey,my conclusion is: KatsuKiyo is a not personal name. And he used two art-names (Sadakane and KatsuKiyo ). Thank you all.
  8. Hi, Yes ,original blade. Yes, around WW2 period. The signature says" Noshu ju IshiHara Yoshisada saku". Meaning is "Made by Ishihara(sure name)Yoshisada(art name ) in Noshu-province(Seki, Gifu prefecture)".
  9. Hi Todd san, katsukiyo(Sadakane) was born in 1893(Meiji 26). Atached an Oshigata is Sword Exhibition in 1941.
  10. hi, :D First of all, I think that Katsukiyo(勝清) is a personal name though Katsukiyo looks like a swordsmith name. I think,He used his personal name for sword(gun-to) Mei. Attached tang photo is: It is an Oshigata of the sword that he won the Prime Minister prize in the Japanese sword exhibition in 1936. He already used "Inoue Sadakane"mei(貞包). I believe, KatsuKiyo was 1gen-Sadakane, Katsuhiro was 2gen-Sadakane.
  11. SwordGuyJoe san, Your reading is correct. :D But,a correct order of reading is B-C-A, (B)Yaegashi Hideya or Hidenari shi (no) ©motome (ni) (A)ozu. YaeGashi Hideya/Hidenari shi no motome ni ozu.

  15. Moriyama sama I do not think so. Hogen, I tried the sosho Kanji character again. i believe, Your Inro mei is "Shiba-hama Shin-Wun" 柴濱真雲 .

  20. Hi yogoro san Ryu-Ko(dragon and tiger ),it means two strong men to whom the ability is nearly equal. Dragon and tiger, bamboo forest and tiger, plum tree and dragon, bamboo and plum tree,--- those combinations are most popular motif of traditional paintings of Japan. K Morita
  21. Hi, Yes, two major characters are cursive style(sosho) Kanji, not Bonji. It is dragon and tiger,It is cursive made a design. It has tail in those characters. Nice Tuba.
