  1. ! very interesting interpretation
  2. and again, too late- or just not in time....better said.... just saw this offer and do strong regret nobody did inform me... but well..... that is life.... talking about good Tsuba.... here is one! very sorrowly i did miss this chance. a excellent! Kanayama, just ben offered for sale -by our´s all good old companion in collecting and preserving......Bob B. ( TH by NBTHK- and certainly one of the (well, this is least for me ) most " quality eye-pleasing" Kanayama Tsuba i have seen since a long time! my honest congratulations to it´s new owner! Christian
  3. The Tekkan is a classical Koryu weapon. The Yagyu Ryu same like the Kukishin Ryu ( plus others deriving from these both traditions of course ) still do teach it´s use in their´s curriculum. Of course! a real weapon! and you can find some really nice ones ( made and signed by reknowned Swordsmiths ) from time to time.... ! your´s is certainly a very nice exemplaire here! Congratulations! ! Christian
  4. exactually. in it´s work, it does represent a pure tradition- plus a pure answer by a expert! (relating the swordsmiths traditions and the tsubako traditions!) not to mention it´s main topic....of course... thank you Ian! ! i think, we do have to applaude to Robert! (Merci beaucoup! Robert!) personally, i do think, much better then this "en vogue " behaviour in just translating "evereything what i do can find me "......( and latter do look for help of commerce) but....? modern times....
  5. Dear Gentlemen, here is a book- ( meanwhile "old" i just read it in last weeks, in space due time i sorrwly did not have so to read it in once...).... i do hard! recomment to read and study! very good!- just excellent!- goes to its point! Christian
  6. do prefer the watch then....
  7. the bronze patina looks artificial- the bronze cast looks very amateurish.... in sum- not old. (least for me) what shall this thing represent ? ( i do agree with you). ( i have to add that good cast should look other...but? what i do tell you? you equally do know it much better!) in sum- throw it away- this is not antique- nor good! me
  8. always sad to read such. i do hope his art and the idea behind will be better understood in future. http://www.shiseidogroup.jp/artsandcrafts/japanesesword/ Christian
  9. i am definitely seconding Ford´s points here... there is no sign of a forge or punched/ciseled work here on these pictures you did post Steven.... do compare the bw pictures Curran did post you, and you will immediately see the difference. ( especially as it shall be the same generation here! ) again, a typical cast and fake one to blind the novices eyes.... well..... Christian
  10. good point. the question, but is, what (?) paper ( Lol) is educational .....hmmmhmh..... i have seen two !
  11. i do not know Naotane, nor Norisuke to have worked with " implements " expressions in their´s Tsuba Richard. must be something other, close to this taste and time....( maybe a Kinko artist ). reliability of the papers, i think, do not need further discussion. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ despite the above written- a lovely and strong Tsuba here Richard! very nice! Christian
  12. still a bargain, even if sorrowly the set is not complete.... good luck in your´s sale Wim! this material ( info herein ) is very certainly the best, one can get i would say.....
  13. Gentlemen, there is certainly no reason or intend by me to kick somebody on the feet. i did write what me here i would do! We had some very bad experience in sending rather expensive arc welders ( see picture ) to Sofia last year- only 5 from 7 did officially arrive and were paid... such speaking- i certainly did learn from such experience. "comment s´échauffer d´une bonne manière" very certaily is not my intend. such speaking...Mr.Koev may excuse me - no bad intend at all.
  14. Bulgaria is a extremely corrupt country! in case you do any business with people living in such areas / ( and do have to shipp marchandise to such areas... ) i personally only would accept a written contract, photocopy of id card and a payment via wire transfer only! Christian
  15. @ Stephen, no worry! always tread me easy- as long there´s no Bosco or Contractor in front of the Bushnell.... the problem but is that such garbage continually dumpens the request for the real stuff...... what shall a newbee think about investing his money into such ? - most probably the typical behaviour....first buy...then ask....and finally fall out of the sky.... i just noticed that in last 6 or 7 months...there´s a very strong increase of such kind of offers from Japan..... Christian
  16. @ Jean not mine! these pictures are just taken from Ebay.... you should learn to see my friend! definitely fakes! here is the same lot with other pictures....( maybe easier for the untrained eye...) Christian
  17. @ Stephen just picked out....LOL! ( a bit of clean....a bit of repatination and aging.....and here we are...Voila! A quite very easy job for those who know how to do such!) and then, hurry up to auction them!......
  18. @ Stephen, do have a look for better quality Iai-To like those are offered by Japanese Budo material providers...... exactly the same copper aloy Tsuba en masse...... too many fakes, vintage or modern cast Tsuba on the market meanwhile! ( of course! offered as original! or "unknown"- LOL! ) do have a look on all these various salesplatforms like Yahoo,Trocadero,Ebay and stuff.... ! easier to preferably burn your´s money immediately ! only do buy from thrusted longyear dealers or longyear collectors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Christian
  19. this is very interesting Stephen! i confess, i never have seen such yet. definitely looks like/as iron as you say....very interesting! do nothing despite study and care! as soon you do aply any sort of oil or wax it will forcefully change its colouration- and you do not know how wax or oild reacts with the pottery! Christian
  20. did you offer this sword via the NMB here ? if yes- no way the buyer could complain, despite he will loose face if not comporting correctly! ( maybe fruitful to publish this gentlemens name here ? ) Christian
  21. upon the posture of the tiger and the general motif.....plus expression of the whole artwork on the backside.... i would date it to the rather last part of Edo.... attached a scroll painting of Kishi Ganjo (1848-1854) i own.... same or near same way to express the tigers movement.... Christian
  22. Merci Maurice!
  23. Dear Stephen yes it is! i have sold it already 2 or three months ago to a Belgian collector...... sorry- i had loved so to give it to you my friend...... very heartly Christian
