Not in great shape, but funny story.  My father received another sword from a friend. His friend decided that the first sword was more significant, so he gave my father this one, LOL.

Just pictures of the handle and close ups of the blade itself. Was there a tassel attached to the sword?

Like I said, from what I've read here, not a complete sword, but blade, I think in good shape.  Missing the " dowel" for the handle.  Not sure if there are any other numbers on the pieces of handle.

But to think that my Dad's friend was more interested in value than Preservation is astounding!  This Sword has spent more than 25 years in a closet !  It has lasted longer than my my Mom and Dad, may they rest in peace....

You need to take good care of that one. It's of little interest to traditional Japanese sword collectors, but of huge interest to Japanese military sword guys. RARE and quite valuable.
By now you'll have a bunch of pm's offering to buy it

In non-nohintoese that means the hardened edge, the point and activity above the whitish area at the edge but below the ridge that runs the length of the blade.
