Just curious if anyone has read Ohmura's new book yet. I know it's in Japanese, so it will have to be someone who can read Japanese. I'd post the title and link, but my searching skills are so poor, I can't find it. It was actually mentioned on NMB when it came out.

He has Chris, but in Japanese, unfortunately and I’m afraid we won’t ever see a translation... :(

That’s the one:

as for the Dagostini magazine, it’s easy to find on fleabay, but I got the one on Muramasa and was disappointed. They only talk about one sword, the rest being generalities. Not worth it I think.

If someone wants to investigate the possibility and get a quote from Markus, we could crowdfund it. Maybe even with Ohmura san's permission, as he could share in the proceeds.

My very rough guess based on page count would be maybe $15k to translate the book from Japanese to English. At 243 pages, and translating 4 pages a day, I reckon it would take maybe 3 months, give or take a couple of weeks for proofreading and rewriting.

The cost and time required will drop if there are a lot of illustrations, but I think this is offset by the increase in cost that comes from the nature of the specialized and technical vocabulary used.

Ah, that makes sense, and pretty much answers the reason for my post. An english version might be nice to have in hand, but I'll pass, then, on the Japanese one since I can get a passable english version online.

The thing is, do we have everything that's on his site? I mean, not reading Japanese, we may have overlooked some stuff. For example, I don’t think I’d  ever seen anything about the clay used For yakiire before last week.

Just curious, what does the book cost?

Brian it was $28.49 plus $5.99 shipping from Yesasia.com. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it is available anymore on their site.

It can probably be purchased from Amazon.jp, but I don’t have the Japanese abilities necessary to find it.

EDIT:

There it is. I wanted to buy it as it’s quite cheap, but would have had to create a new account, so I gave up.
