lonely panet Posted October 15, 2019 Report Posted October 15, 2019 shame they didn't leave it togeather, looks either a very early kai gunto model or custom order Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted October 15, 2019 Report Posted October 15, 2019 That price better go up. The tsuka alone is worth $200. Quote
David Flynn Posted October 15, 2019 Report Posted October 15, 2019 It's only worth, what someone is willing to pay. 1 Quote
lonely panet Posted October 15, 2019 Report Posted October 15, 2019 Dave's right, sadly there's not much interest in loose military fittings compared to koshirae. That type of engraving is normally associated with kyu gunto models so it would have been best left together Evan if the saya was in poor shape. Could have been a transitional mount Quote
vajo Posted October 16, 2019 Report Posted October 16, 2019 That tsuka has a classical look like an ancient tachi. Very nice fittings. Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted October 16, 2019 Report Posted October 16, 2019 Perhaps a very early or custom pattern Kai Gunto, Mon on the menuki aren't very common. Quote
Dave R Posted October 16, 2019 Report Posted October 16, 2019 Broken down for ease of shipping, or the saya rotted away? Quote
Stephen Posted October 16, 2019 Author Report Posted October 16, 2019 Moot point..like discussing why the barn door was left open. Quote
