Wouldn't surprise me if besides the sword stump it's all rayon and plastic, what with the amount of gloss it might as well be.

Average person in Japan, as well as many dealers, just consider wartime swords junk and/or illegal. They wouldn't bother to research that RJT swords and Gendaito are legal and could have been registered with some work.
Damn shame.
