b.hennick Posted September 6, 2018 Report Posted September 6, 2018 Hello:I am looking for a box to hold at least 30 tsuba. Here is one for example http://apantiques.ocnk.net/product/1131 another http://www.nihontocraft.com/Tsuba_Hako.html Help to find one or to have one made will be appreciated. I didn't want to take a photo without permission. Quote
TETSUGENDO Posted September 7, 2018 Report Posted September 7, 2018 Hi Barry, Someone on NMB posted pictures of multiple tsuba boxes he had made a while back, I believe at one point he offered them for sale. The work was quite fine. If you search NMB perhaps you can find the post. You could, no doubt, have them made in Japan. Cheers, -S- Quote
b.hennick Posted September 7, 2018 Author Report Posted September 7, 2018 Hi Steven: I'm looking for something that holds more than one tsuba or two. Each tray or drawer would hold 6 or 9 pieces. Quote
Greg F Posted September 7, 2018 Report Posted September 7, 2018 Hello Barry, I had a look on ebay for you and found a 45 tsuba box but couldnt provide link for some reason but the seller is 4520genkidayo (1914) good luck. Greg Quote
b.hennick Posted September 7, 2018 Author Report Posted September 7, 2018 Thanks Greg. I have seen that one but the shipping is $130. The box is not old but has some scratches and other small stuff. I didn't mention that one as it is a current auction. 1 Quote
Greg F Posted September 7, 2018 Report Posted September 7, 2018 No worries I will keep looking. Greg 1 Quote
TETSUGENDO Posted September 7, 2018 Report Posted September 7, 2018 Barry, I meant that he appears to have the ability to fabricate whatever you want. Trying to find exactly what you are looking for in older goods is not that easy, many others desire the same thing you do.....it down to fortune and quick reactions Keep your trigger finger limber, and at the ready, as "he who hesitates is lost". Bonne chance, -S- Quote
b.hennick Posted September 7, 2018 Author Report Posted September 7, 2018 Thanks for the advice. If I knew who made them I would contact the person. Quote
mareo1912 Posted September 7, 2018 Report Posted September 7, 2018 I only got that one here, but it fits 24 Tsuba max. You also have any Daisho sets that need to fit? 2 Quote
TETSUGENDO Posted September 7, 2018 Report Posted September 7, 2018 Eureka! Again, beautiful work Marco, my apologies for not being able to put you together with your work. -S- Quote
b.hennick Posted September 7, 2018 Author Report Posted September 7, 2018 Hi Marco: I was looking for something to hold tsuba not tsuba boxes. 1 Quote

It has very rough fabric which also is sloppily glued in, I wouldn't put any tsuba on that kind of scratchy surface; I'm talking from first-hand experience. 1 Quote
b.hennick Posted September 8, 2018 Author Report Posted September 8, 2018 Thanks for finding it Stephen, and thanks for the heads up Guido. P.M. sent to you. Quote
Stephen Posted September 8, 2018 Report Posted September 8, 2018 One had the time you could cover each in felt. I got this at a billiards store back when i was hosting poker games. I think i have enough tan color in fact, id ship to you for postage. Quote

Stephen Posted September 18, 2018 Report Posted September 18, 2018 Nice box, kinda pricey guess because of free shipping. Quote
b.hennick Posted September 18, 2018 Author Report Posted September 18, 2018 He originally listed it for less and had the shipping at $130. At that time he was asking more than now. It looks fairly new to me. 1 Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted September 19, 2018 Report Posted September 19, 2018 I got in touch with Ueno-san at https://www.katanatansu.jp/tsuba%E9%8D%94%E5%8F%8E%E7%B4%8D-%E9%8D%94%E6%8E%9B%E3%81%91/%E9%8D%94%E5%8F%8E%E7%B4%8D%E7%AE%B1tsuba-syunou/#cc-m-product-10403707174, & although he agreed that the fabric is rough, he suggested just placing a piece of silk over any segment if I'm worried about scratching the patina. He also quoted a reasonable ¥7300 for shipping to the U.S., & he does accept PayPal. I have an Edo-period tsuba collection box that I bought from an NMB member, but I'm outgrowing it, & this storage box might be my next acquisition. Quote
