Michael 67 Posted December 24, 2015 Report Posted December 24, 2015 Hello, I have this Wakizashi offered get for USD 1000. As a beginner I'm not sure if that's really good. I like it. , What do you say to the Koshirae? Can someone write something to the swordsmith? The blade needs to be polished. Thank you for your help I wish all a Merry Christmas. Quote
Stephen Posted December 24, 2015 Report Posted December 24, 2015 Fuyuhiro...very nice mounts...on the phone,later Quote
Stephen Posted December 24, 2015 Report Posted December 24, 2015 at home for a closer look, koshi worth twice that IMHO, free blade. Hope its not a scam, and not too much patina was removed to see the mei, if thats the case and just not the photo. Did the offer come with a WU me the money? 1 Quote
Ray Singer Posted December 24, 2015 Report Posted December 24, 2015 For $1,000 I would suggest you jump on this immediately. The nakago will need to be professionally repatinated however the price is a deal for the koshirae alone. Best regards, Ray Quote
Ray Singer Posted December 24, 2015 Report Posted December 24, 2015 Stephen beat me to it. What he said. Ray Quote
Stephen Posted December 24, 2015 Report Posted December 24, 2015 as often when too good to be true ...it is. Be sure your not asked to send Western Union...WU...payment. I wish you best of luck getting this. Quote

Michael 67 Posted December 26, 2015 Author Report Posted December 26, 2015 Thank you Greg. the difference between a man and a boy, is the price of his toys. I am very excited about it. Quote
Michael 67 Posted December 30, 2015 Author Report Posted December 30, 2015 The collection has arrived. Please tell me what you think. Wakiashi 1 has a wonderful Koshirae. Unfortunately, someone has worked at some unprofessional share, Wakizashi 4, saya, is very bad. It's all very dusty. The blades are full of fat / grease. How can the parts to be cleaned? Wakizashi 1 1 Quote
Brian Posted December 30, 2015 Report Posted December 30, 2015 Wakizashi 1 - Blade is bad, not sure it has a boshi left. But nice fittings, as you said. Need a gently wash with soap and water and an old toothbrush. Use isopropyl alcohol to clean the blades. Quote
drbvac Posted December 30, 2015 Report Posted December 30, 2015 HAS He got anything else he wants to sell - not that its any of MY business but were the rest priced similarly to the one at the top of the thread ? Better than the lottery 2 Quote
Michael 67 Posted December 30, 2015 Author Report Posted December 30, 2015 I bought everything without seeing it. I only had a few photos. The seller lives about 550 km away from me. This is far in Germany. Only No. 1 has very much interested me. At no. 4 I found the signature very exciting. The seller wanted to sell everything together. So I just have everything bought The rest ... mmmhhh Quote
Michael 67 Posted December 30, 2015 Author Report Posted December 30, 2015 many thanks to Brian .I have everything cleaned very carefully and am very happy .. Now I can see fine details of the tsuba. Quote

Stephen Posted December 30, 2015 Report Posted December 30, 2015 be very careful on kinko, soft metal, cleaning. Quote
Kronos Posted December 30, 2015 Report Posted December 30, 2015 Those fittings on #1 are exquisite and I think it may be a decent blade if the boshi can be saved which is a big if. You've done very well and I'll take a closer look after the football. Some measurements and better shots of the blades would be good. Quote
Michael 67 Posted December 30, 2015 Author Report Posted December 30, 2015 tomorrow I will send all the dimensions of the blades. More pictures of blade I'll do Quote
Ron STL Posted December 30, 2015 Report Posted December 30, 2015 cleaned. I do not want to clean more. I'm afraid even to break something. Very nice Mino Goto tsuba and fuchi/kashira set. I have collected a group of these to learn from them over the years. These alone are certainly to be kept safe and appreciated. You are a lucky man, Michael. Ron STL Quote
drbvac Posted December 31, 2015 Report Posted December 31, 2015 MIchael: You have many years of study and enjoyment ahead of you with those 4 blades - there are guys who collect for a long time and will not end up with swords like these and FOR sure not for what you paid. If I may = I know how exciting all this is but I would be in no screaming rush to clean, work on, move around or frig with them too much as I know you would also hate to do any damage to your new treasures. Well done. I believe the mon on the koshira of # 4 is the center in the picture below - i am afraid I dont have the translation though Quote
Greg F Posted December 31, 2015 Report Posted December 31, 2015 Such a great deal! That tsuba is Georgeous. You must of had some good karma coming your way. All the best. Greg Quote
