  1. "in a more relaxed atmosphere"... BS! I've been to a couple of your parties and was fortunate to get out alive! ROFLMAO!!!
  2. Of course it is possible. Ford could do it with his eyes closed.
  3. http://page12.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/p510085737 http://page22.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/l345104071 http://page11.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/n170401123 http://page19.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/x441749261 http://page12.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/p510238812 http://page6.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/f174898298 http://page13.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/r148694762 http://page15.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/t469579106 My question is, if one bidder consistently overbids everyone, Whi bother bidding at all? PS: one person did: http://page22.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/l345195902 Now then. The above transactions all occurred Sunday morning (04/03/16) and all were won by the same individual, who has been winning multiple auctions for several months now with the exception of the last one which fell to someone else after about a two hour bidding war and is also the item mentioned in the above thread. I have never seen a kozuka 'signed' by Goto Teijo in gold on the omote and I have grave reservations about it's legitimacy. Mainline Goto did not advertise in this manner as they were carvers/assayers to the Shogunate and any such 'mei' would most probably be an attribution from someone else. I cannot read the ura and pehaps there is some reference there. From what I recall none of the above items have origami. To me, this is someone with a bit too much money aligned with a bit too much ego and pride making risky/poor decisions which reminds me of someone running for President here, but then I digress. PS: there's a little pun included above for those who follow Yahoo!. PPS: watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6bwyILxtYA

Of course you won't... (and I will never buy another book -- just ask Grey)! ROFLMAO!!!
  6. See the big ears? It's an old theme. It usually has the rabbit face in the middle so I'm not certain why the hole. It's always something in this field! LOL
  7. I believe it's just very old and has not been handled much. I'd go with Ko Shoami or Shoami. Good theme for Easter - Wabbit! LOL
  8. This is beginning to sound like the Republican Presidential Debates...
  9. Although not of Jewish descent, I find myself in alignment with their traditional interpretation: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chutzpah
  10. Oh -- I get it. He was a rent samurai! No wonder he was so creative!!!
  11. It would be really nice to have the kanji so we could figure out the 'joke', or is the joke just on us???
  12. http://www.japaneseswordbooksandtsuba.com/store/books/b865-connoisseurs-book-Japanese-swords-kokan-nagayama James, If you ask Grey might knock a few bucks off for a NMB member. He's very good to deal with.
  13. Jeremy -- Why not save your money and invest it in a trip down to the San Francisco Token Kai in early August. You live close enough you could even do a day trip. Then, you could really see what this is all about. If you go make it a Saturday as that's when most things happen.
  14. Cast reproduction.
  15. If your not up on the terminology (like me) after clicking on the link place the cursor arrow on the picture, left click and hold down, then you can rotate the picture using a horizontal drag. Very good pictures!
  16. Saturday would most likely be better as the attendance is better. Many have to work so don't get in until Saturday.
  17. I'll be around also. Bringing some interesting kogai to show and tell with friends so if interested just ask. Being my home State show I always look forward to it. We will raise a bit a 'ell!!! LOL!!!
  18. For whatever it's worth, here's my two cents. Being a bit of a contrarian investor my gut reaction to this sale is that if it's being offered overseas then it had reason not to sell in Japan. If it is so great it should have easily sold there and we wouldn't even hear of it ergo, what is the underlying issue(s) which drive this sale to an international clientele? One thing that crossed my mind is that it is possible that the offers made in Yen are less than what might be possible from a USD sale, even though the USD/Yen ratio has declined recently. They might be hoping for a 'Whi' (inside joke for those who participate in Yahoo! Japan)! Should be interesting to see how this unravels.
  19. In your G-6...
  20. Brian - my preference is for the solid cut out sukashi. The soldered ones were done to allow thinner and therefore a higher number of spokes (for lack of a better term) to be accomplished. It's subjective of course. Here's a high priced example: http://www.nihonto.com/4.4.15.html My preference is for tsuba which have been used with the exception of some very high end kinko examples which I couldn't afford anyway. I like the wabi of age in the metal. The sterility of perfect pieces can be off-putting, at least to my eye.

    Satsuma Tsuba

I love NHK World. The beginning of this with the phallic inference is hilarious! LOL
  22. What you are seeing is the automatic bidding system working. Someone was moving bids up against the leader until he found their highest bid. If you click on 'show automatic bids' you'll see the progress. It's impossible to bid against your own bid. It will just move your max-bid higher but will not affect the shown high bid on the sales page.
