  1. Also, Europe doesn't have the amount of swords as those countries that took Japanese surrenders. Hence their prices will be higher.
  2. I believe we have been down this road before, though I still believe you are prejudice.
  3. Chris when you say better than 90% of seki blades, does this mean the ones with seki and showa stamps, or all seki blades including Gendai? That is a very broad statement. If you are refering to show and seki stamped blades, you should say so. Also if this is your criteria, then the same applies to Tokyo swords.
  4. What would the final price be, 90,000pounds?
  5. Is this for sale?
  6. Sorry Chief inquisitor , you've caught me out.
  7. Yes sample size. I have seen many Yasukunito, polished and unpolished. Most have kizu.
  8. Chris what you say is quite true. Though from 1937 on, the demand for swords increased and the quality of Yasukunito dropped as a result. This is even more evident post 1941. Again except for special order.
  9. can get microfibre cloths cheap on ebay.
  10. I have to disagree about Yasukunito. Though made with Tamahagane, many come with flaws. I have seen some, mainly special order swords, that are magnificent. On the whole though, even Yasukunito should be judged on the individual sword and not the name. Also, I disagree with them being superior on the whole, unless one is taking oil tempered into consideration.
  11. It's definitely a put together. Who knows when this occurred or Why? Not really worth the effort of investigating.
  12. George, I have a Munetoshi, signed as the first . I believe you saw it at the Sydney show.
  13. Not much. Basically, whatever one may get.
  14. depended on the smith. Although most were pretty standard. However when it comes to early Showa 1926 - 1945 Gendai, these were made in the various shapes of most periods.
  15. So Sad, he brought the love of Gendai to many? Farewell.
  16. Looks like an old school pencil box.
  17. G'day and welcome Heidar.
  18. I believe the split came when Yoshikawa Sensei died. There were two claimants to the throne. This was taken to court and Yoshikawa's son won the right to be the head of the NTHK. The outcome caused the pretender, to change their name to NTHK NPO.
  19. Same thing was for Nidai and Second Generation.
  20. Swords aren't made by magic. It's only spiritual, if one thinks it is.
  21. I've been to sword shows in Australia, Japan and America, and have never seen anyone bowing to a sword. Also whilst in Japan, I had the pleasure of examining swords at various dealers, no one bowed.
  22. I believe this bowing to a sword, is more a martial arts thing.
  23. Same thing.
  24. Koshizori in a sword that looks O suriage, are commonly Shinshinto copies. I'm not saying this one is, however it is a possibility.
