    Shin Shinto?

Cool article also by Markus Sesko is how a line of the Kanesada’s ended up in Aizu. A must and fun read! https://japaneseswordlegends.wordpress.com/2015/10/01/the-spirit-is-willing-but-the-flesh-is-weak/

    Shin Shinto?

    Yes, I’d say shinshinto too.
  3. Not surprising! Congrats to the buyer!
  4. I’ll say it again, Artur, you are talented. Eager to see the rest.
  5. Yep! I wish I had the money...
  6. Beautiful blade! Should sell easily!
  7. Personally, I’d go for the Katana too. Yes, a wavy Hamon always looks gorgeous, but it is often said that Suguha are more difficult to do and having both kind (and, like you, I wanted my first to be midare something because it looks more flashy), I’ve got to admit that there’s some sort of simple, pure beauty in a Suguha Hamon that somehow make them absolutely beautiful.
  8. Beautiful blade! This one is a winner!
  9. Don’t know what it is but it looks beautiful to look at. Maybe the boshi is some sort of hitatsura.
  10. Kanbun Shinto? Though that Nakago looks very new...
  11. Whatever it is, it looks gorgeous!
  12. Don’t know if it’s very helpful, but I think some of these are pretty close...
  13. Yes, your first is always special. My first was a showato blade in a civilian mount. The saya is cracked and the blade has become blunt, sports fingerprints and scratches because the previous owner (the father of a kid I used to teach to) used it for martial arts. Yet, it still has a special place in my heart and even though there’s not much worth in it, I hope to have it restored one day to give it all it’s glory back.
  14. That’s some serious skill you got there!:clap
  15. It’s sad to see a sword end up like that. A piece of history has just passed
  16. Put a piece of wood on the handle near the piece of metal that holds the blade and gently tap the wood piece with a small hammer. You shouldn’t harm anything that way.
  17. Another great addition to a great, informative website. Keep up the good work Yurie, and think about making it a book!
  18. Welcome! And sorry about the accident. Life is full of those sad and bad moments we have to cope with. And glad I won’t feel like the only novice here!
  19. Type Shinogi zukuri on google and you’ll see. Basically, it means the Katana shape everyone is familiar with, a blade with a parallel ridge that runs along the upper part of the sword and a vertical ridge (yokote) near the tip of the sword. As for the Nakago jiri, I agree that it looks weird for a Gunto. Usually, those were made to side. A cut Nakago like yours suggest a suriage blade (shortened), so maybe a traditional blade shortened to fit a military mount. But it’s such in a bad shape that you can hardly say anything for sure about it. Then again, there’s just one peg hole, which is weird for suriage.
  20. Pictures make it hard to judge but that price, if there aren’t hidden defects, sounds reasonable, but the experts here will give you better advice than me.
  21. Seriously, could be part of a name or it can be Kuni meaning province
  22. I can read it easily! Says “made in China”! Sorry, I couldn’t resist!
  23. And yet another gem for sale!
  24. Speaking of manga, one should not forget the absolutely brilliant and captivating Lone Wolf and Cub (can be enjoyed in manga, movies and TV series format)

    Mission Accomplished

Yes, it does... but it pays in the end, you’re the living proof!
