  1. I can't read the Mei but I think you're thinking about shibuichi as type of metal? Either way its very nice! Harata school? D
  2. Ok I know I butchered this but first try. Looks like a Tokugowa (AOI?) Mon on top and rest is hard to make out. I left out the AOI and tried to reproduce what I see in person but I'm sure it's not even close. Kudos to anyone who can translate what I copied or can see in the pic through the rust. Thanks in advance D EDIT:Photos are upright in my folder but when I upload them they show sideways. If someone could fix?
  3. Wow. Amazing...
  4. Thanks to everyone! And thanks for the pics Grey! The art of the Japanese sword is next on my list!
  5. Very nice! EDIT: Forgot I already commented. Such a nice sword I commented twice..lol but I was refering the the second set of pictures which I dont think is for sale! Sorry
  6. Secretly Im crying into my pillow that I didnt win (my sword pillow)
  7. Hi all. What you guys think about this book? The Connoisseurs Book Of Japanese Swords by Kokan Nagayama It seems most searches I do that are detailed or obscure seem to lead to this book. Lots of little tidbits of obscure info D
  8. Darn 23 is my lucky number too! Congrats Barry!
  9. My thoughts as well! Omari menuki? Sagurigane? Kawarigane?
  10. There are a few experts on this website so just hang in there and one of them will chime in sooner or later. I think a couple of them already have haha
  11. Still available? Very nice piece! D
  12. Very good observations! Still a very nice blade and if I didn't just buy a tanto i would make you an offer. But the urge to purchase is high so you might be hearing from me privately soon???????? D
  13. Thank you for sharing! I wish to clean some extra I have as well but did not want to use any harsh or extreme methods nor did I want to remove any patina or color. I've read that "grime and dirt isn't patina", so a light and non invasive cleaning is ok. Any other advice or methods? You did a really good job! D
  14. I love cloisonne!
  15. The face on the right I can definitely see. Pretty crazy too Now the supposed face on the left? No. You're just seeing things
  16. Honestly if its not red or growing just oil the sword and keep an eye on it. It happens from time to time in carbon blades. I think some call them "pepper spots"? But yeah, trying to fix it yourself will probably just makes things worse.
  17. Its nice. What gives it away as not being Kamakura?
  18. I think there is technically over 200 actual paid entries but much less Kantei posts (roughly 30 as you said)?
  19. Thanks. I'm sure I'm way off especially on the nie and nioi (I was looking at specific area instead of the blade as a whole) but this Kantei has really made the entire experience very interesting! It's amazing that each Nihonto is like a finger print! No two alike! Thanks again Dwain
  20. How true haha
  21. Sometimes I sware it's real gold by such a fine job they do.
