Wow! The polisher fixed the chips in the edge(ha) and everything? How the heck did you even know it was worth polishing? Very good job by whoever polished that one! And good eye????

I see Markus did a little write up on similar tsuka so I'll check out more into that thread. Here's the sword in this particular koshirae -
Lol. Yah u might be right. I thought it was a pink color trying to better mimic a cherry or peach blossom but now that u say it, it does look like silver plate with copper underneath. Was kinda hoping it was the other way around.. Well we'll know if I win this in a few more hours. Ill update if I get it. If not. PEACE OUT! D

Yah I was thinking the same thing. The "wet look" makes it seem treated to look old. That's why I was concerned to begin with. I'm hoping it stays under $100????

2Nd Nihonto! Muromachi Jidai Bungotakada
Blazeaglory replied to Mizuho_No_Densetsu's topic in Nihonto
I think it's a real hamon just been enhanced with acid. A good polisher should be able to bring it back There's a certain eBay seller who has allot of swords for sale that look awesome but most of them have been enhanced. Probably because a good polish is expensive and just wants to make quick sales but who knows EDIT: I posted before reading that others have said basically what I jyst said! Good luck! Still a great blade -
Yeah I agree but based off of this one photo it would be hard to make a judgement like that. In hand the masame hada is definitely "noticeable in the shinogiji", as well as the over all quality of this sword. I chose that photo because it has the most action in the shinogji and hiraji but virtually almost the majority of the rest is masame hada in the shinogji. Also, later Kanemotos became more uniform in their hamon and have much different turn backs, whereas this turn back and hamon is literally spot on for Kanemoto II. (Written description anyways and I'm not saying it is) I could be totally wrong but based on what I see in hand and have read and heard from others, I'm quite hopeful. But I guess there's only one way to find out haha (shinsa). Either way I don't want to get caught up in a "it is or isn't" debate. I've had several people say it looks like a koto Kanemoto before I ever even knew who he was. All I can do is Shinsa and hope. Take care???? EDIT: I had the shinogiji confused with shinogi, which is where the majority of actual masame hada is(as well as in the lower hamon/ha). Sorry. So it's very close but either way I still love this blade. So far, even tho it loves to make me bleed, it's my favorite????????

Thanks. I can take the criticism. But is the original Phoenix koshirae Chinese or Japanese? Looks to be of Chinese influence. On AOI site his pictures are much better and it actually has a serious amount of detail. Yes the second "dragon" koshirae is amazing and houses an equally amazing sword. PS. Thers a horse koshirae? I'm year of the horse???? -
I know it's hard to judge from pics but I'll post and you decide. Something about it doesn't seem right. I don't know what exactly but half of me says yes, half of me says no.

I love this thread and the rabbit and moon story! I have a rabbit friend that comes and visits me late at night when I work on my car in the garage. He (or she) is a nice looking large brown rabbit with high long ears. The first time it came in it hopped right to the edge of the open garage, sat for a second staring at me (staring at it), while I'm trying to get my brothers attention without moving. At first I thought I was hallucinating but my brother seen it that night as well. It hopped into the garage and made a round and disapeared for a bit and I thout "great it's in the walls", finally it hops out from under my car and comes right up to me for a pat on the head... really surreal. Then it goes right to the edge of the open garage frame and sits down facing the end of the street where the busy street is and it just stared for a while adjusting its ears around like satellites... Finally it looks back as if to say "cya" and hops back towards the direction frm whence it came. Almost every late night/ really early morning it'll come visit if I'm out there. It's some of my favorite moments. I know it visits even when I'm not out there by the medium sized pellet piles it leaves on my front lawn.

I just made a post in your sales thread but I thought I posted it here! Anyways I posted my Shibuichi Kozuka for comparison and mine has the same brownish/dark copper areas as yours. So I'm gonna say its Shibuichi
-
EDIT: Sorry i thought i posted this in your other thread! So here's a bump! I would think it depends on the copper content. You can also look very close, if you have a pocket microscope or a jeweler loop, check any scratches (deeper the better) and if it's copper in the scratch, it's silver plated. If it's a silver color in the scratch, its Shibuichi or silver. Here's a pic of the back of my Shibuichi Kozuka. Has the same brownish spots as yours but in person looks black. The camera seems to bring out the "brownish" (deep copper). You can also see the silver in the worn edge. The back looks shiroshibuichi (higher copper content) and front looks kirochishibuichi (very white higher silver content with a bit of gold). In person anyways So I would guess it's Shibuichi. Might wanna raise the price wink wink

At first I thought "chicken dragon" but realized it was a Phoenix https://www.aoijapan.com/katana-mumie-unsigned/

Blazeaglory replied to Mizuho_No_Densetsu's topic in Nihonto
Yah seems really bright. I don't know if enhancing with acid is necessarily a bad thing as it brings out the hamon very brightly like that but it could just be a very well made sword with a really good polish. I'm sure the pros could say more. Either way I think it looks great! -
Nihonto identity crisis? Lol

You can do that but I would add pics in the sales thread as well just in case but I'm sure a moderator will help you. Good luck!
