Grey beat me to it. I don't believe this is an authentic Japanese sword. Unusual hataraki in the hamon, unusual sugata, patina of the nakago, etc are all areas of concern.
-
Nagasa is 54.8cm
-
The nakago looks adjusted and likely does not represent its original shape. Additional sori has been introduced and one side shaved down. My guess is that this adjustment has been made to fit into a tachi koshirae.

Descriptive Mei Masahide On Aoi
Ray Singer replied to Vermithrax16's topic in Auctions and Online Sales or Sellers
Thanks Guido, I stand corrected. Stephen, if we are thinking of the same story Chris Bowen gave an account of a martial artist he met who used an Ichimonji for his practice and had a large hakobore due to hitting a staple in the tatami. -

Unfortunately it is in the Japanese as well. Refers specifically to recommending the sword for for those who practice Kendo (剣道). 是非剣道などを行う方にお薦めしたい名品です。 -

A shame that Aoi recommends using this sword for martial arts. -
The Fukuoka Ichimonji and Etchu Tametsugu are wonderful.

I unfortunately had to sell last year to purchase a Juyo Shikkake Norinaga (shodai) with provenance to Suzuki Kajo. I miss the Korekazu, it was a great one that was astonishing healthy. I believe there was a trace of ubu-ba. Andrew Ickeringill saw it later and felt it was in its second polish.

If I can make an alternate suggestion, this is a more comprehensive reference. https://markussesko.com/2015/05/06/new-swordsmiths-of-Japan-3-volumes/ -
The best Ishido I have owned (and one of the top 2-3 Ishido I have seen). Shodai (Musashi Daijo) Korekazu, with a rare nijimei. Published four times...

Much appreciated, thank you Rene

Hi Winnie, would you show the entire signatures on these? Parts of the signature on two are cut off. The first is a Showato (mass produced blade) by Murayama Kaneshige. The third is by Ishido Teruhide. The next has its signature cut off, perhaps Kanetomo. The next is a Yokoyama blade, but we are missing the actual smiths name which is to the right of the photo. The last appears to be a Showato by Kanemichi.

Yes Winnie, please feel free to share photos. Best regards, Ray

Signature Translation Assistance Please (Toshimichi)?
Ray Singer replied to Tenshi's topic in Translation Assistance
According to Markus Sesko's book, Toshimichi was only Yasutoshi's civilian name. He died young after producing only 350 sword. I suspect that he only signed Yasutoshi. -
Signature Translation Assistance Please (Toshimichi)?
Ray Singer replied to Tenshi's topic in Translation Assistance
I do not know who this smith is but this does not give the impression of a Yasutoshi. Especially, note the takanoha yasurimei which would be atypical. I do not know if Yasutoshi used the mei Toshimichi on any of his earlier swords but have never seen an example.
