  1. Grey beat me to it. I don't believe this is an authentic Japanese sword. Unusual hataraki in the hamon, unusual sugata, patina of the nakago, etc are all areas of concern.
  2. I would unfortunately lean towards this being a Chinese fake.
  3. Nagasa is 54.8cm
  4. The nakago looks adjusted and likely does not represent its original shape. Additional sori has been introduced and one side shaved down. My guess is that this adjustment has been made to fit into a tachi koshirae.
  5. Hi Chris, please send me an email at raymondsinger@gmail.com. Best regards, Ray
  6. Listing a very beautiful Sue-koto (late Muromachi) wakizashi at a fire sale price (by request of the owner). Healthy Sue-Bizen wakizashi with a gonome choji hamon in ko-nie. Wonderful jihada with prominent chikei. Thick ji-nie. Silver habaki and shirasaya of nice quality honoki. Gimei of Bizen Yoshimitsu, on an ubu nakago. SOLD. Any questions, please email raymondsinger@gmail.com.
  7. Thanks Guido, I stand corrected. Stephen, if we are thinking of the same story Chris Bowen gave an account of a martial artist he met who used an Ichimonji for his practice and had a large hakobore due to hitting a staple in the tatami.
  8. Unfortunately it is in the Japanese as well. Refers specifically to recommending the sword for for those who practice Kendo (剣道). 是非剣道などを行う方にお薦めしたい名品です。
  9. A shame that Aoi recommends using this sword for martial arts.
  10. The Fukuoka Ichimonji and Etchu Tametsugu are wonderful.
  11. I unfortunately had to sell last year to purchase a Juyo Shikkake Norinaga (shodai) with provenance to Suzuki Kajo. I miss the Korekazu, it was a great one that was astonishing healthy. I believe there was a trace of ubu-ba. Andrew Ickeringill saw it later and felt it was in its second polish.
  12. If I can make an alternate suggestion, this is a more comprehensive reference. https://markussesko.com/2015/05/06/new-swordsmiths-of-Japan-3-volumes/
  13. The best Ishido I have owned (and one of the top 2-3 Ishido I have seen). Shodai (Musashi Daijo) Korekazu, with a rare nijimei. Published four times...
  14. Much appreciated, thank you Rene
  15. Thanks all for the kind words. This piece is still available. Best regards, Ray
  16. FWIW, I do not think that the logos are close enough that one could really claim their logo was 'stolen'. And copyrighting 'nihonto' is a very extreme response to this perceived brand theft.
  17. I posted a suggestion in that Facebook thread that they use the kanji for Nihonto to circumvent the copyright issue, and sent over a quick-and-dirty logo suggestion. Hopefully that gets them going for the immediate term until this copyright issue is permanently resolved...
  18. In that Norimitsu, soe-hi...
  19. Hi Winnie, would you show the entire signatures on these? Parts of the signature on two are cut off. The first is a Showato (mass produced blade) by Murayama Kaneshige. The third is by Ishido Teruhide. The next has its signature cut off, perhaps Kanetomo. The next is a Yokoyama blade, but we are missing the actual smiths name which is to the right of the photo. The last appears to be a Showato by Kanemichi.
  20. Yes Winnie, please feel free to share photos. Best regards, Ray
  21. Jean, I go back to see this one often... https://www.aoijapan.net/tanto-sadatoshi-ayakoji/
  22. This is the working date for this smith (not confirming that the signature is authentic). https://nihontoclub.com/smiths/NAG250
  23. Congrats to Jean and Michael for their bids to Hatakeda. https://www.aoijapan.com/appraisal-quiz-488
  24. According to Markus Sesko's book, Toshimichi was only Yasutoshi's civilian name. He died young after producing only 350 sword. I suspect that he only signed Yasutoshi.
  25. I do not know who this smith is but this does not give the impression of a Yasutoshi. Especially, note the takanoha yasurimei which would be atypical. I do not know if Yasutoshi used the mei Toshimichi on any of his earlier swords but have never seen an example.
