I got the message that Darcy has passed away. And found the thread here. I'm so sad. Darcy was allways helping. A living legend has gone. Ted do you know what was happened? -
I found another Koshirae in the net that has also only one mekugi ana. But its only a koshirae with no sword.

Nice one Adam. This is the sword from Brandon? I followed it. Thanks for showing it. This one is a Hizen Kuni Ju Nin Kanemoto Saku And Dated 1944 and was sold from Bonhams.

Thanks a lot Thomas for the explaining. So much details. I checked the mune again and see no other marks. Adam, thank you. I would be pleased if you show me your sword here. I got this picture of the 1965 registration card with the sword.

Thomas the description in the offer is funny. Little damaged and dirty.

From a honorable member of this board i got a late stage akihisa type3 (march 1944) which i searched for a longer time. Thanks for selling it to me. The wooden saya is wrapped with Japanese paper and lacquered with urushi in a leather texture. The tsuka is very light. Over the wood the same is from paper too. Lacquered with urushi black. The ito ist some kind of leather lacquered with red/brown urushi lacquer too. The tsuka has only one mekugi ana. It is fixed with a bamboo peg but i think there was a screw in it because on the other side is a metal sheet with a drilled hole. I have two screw from another type 3 it doesn't fit (to big) The fittings are made from brass with a niage patination. The seppa are metal (no aluminium) with coat of silver. The iron tsuba looks hammered around the nakago ana. The tsuba is patinated black, not painted. The habaki is brass with a wavey texture. The ashu is from blacked patinated iron with a moving ball of iron. The koshirae is very light. Lighter than a standard type 3 The hole for the tassel is not drilled. The blade has some rust spots and signs of threaten to remove them. The status is in wartime polish and it needs a professional polish for further preservation.

Huge auction in Australia with more than 100 blades
vajo replied to Promo's topic in Auctions and Online Sales or Sellers
The condition of these swords is terrible. Many of them have humiditiy storing damage like verdigris and red rust, rotted saya and ito. Maybe they were stored in a tomb? -

I think they are all from the same company. The seppa looks all similar and you didn't find that on a origianl sword. GENDAI - TŌ (www-schmucker--info-net.translate.goog) the site is original in german and translated into english with google.

Ah sorry Jean. In my ignorrance and less english i overread it.

On the turtle i think it is damage. Someone tried to remove the habaki from a sword and hammered on it. Its sad. The Turtle and the Horsedragon is the same habaki. The design is on each side. Its the only Horsedragon i ever found. I see this creature not twice. Or is it a Dragon with goat feet? In Bavaria we would say it looks like a "Wolperdinger"

The bind looks in the same direction for me Jean. Typical chinese style. The seppa is not patinated. The fittings look very cheap. I think its fake.

vajo replied to Erwin's topic in Military Swords of Japan
Erwin your assembling needs just re-work. The small seppa to tsuka side then the boars eye seppa. From swordside the same. The red seppa is allways the first on the tsuba. Nice presentation btw. 👍 -

Last Stage Type3 Rikugun Jumei Tosho to point that out.

It seems allways a star stamped gendaito in these fittings. Great. Thats a fine sword Eric. Its a true nihonto not massed produced.
