  1. Now the real question one should ask is : What does mean : « Fist an urushi lacquer ». LoL
  2. Different blades shapes throughout the Ages can only be done on same swords category. You can’t mix shoto and daito
  3. Cannon balls
  4. Bungo butted in? By the way, have you have seen him in his full cavalry uniform? He seems coming right out of Fort Apache movie https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10201767966474128&set=a.1483589302949.62754.1630356414&type=3
  5. Look at yamato hosho/Tegai. http://www.militaria.co.za/nmb/topic/17414-achieved-collection-gokaden/ The masame is so tight that it is almost impossible to picture
  6. And one of Mitsuyo, I have always been fascinated by Miike school. The original sword is described as having a funbari which shows that the definition of funbari is quite loose: http://www.tsuruginoya.com/mn1_3/a00489.html
  7. Chris, Don’t forget that in addition it is suriage...
  8. Guido, Don’t be to harsh. Let Jacques teach Japanese to Tsuruginoya owners
  9. Axel, Yes and for 2 good reasons: 1 - during Muromachi so many swords were forged that the majority having survived are ubu. 2 - during Edo, no wars, so no reasons to have swords forged modified.
  10. Thanks a lot Piers Yes, it is suriage, have a look at the Hi ends on both sides and at the kiri yasurimei on the ura side
  11. Michael, I was just discussing the price. 880 000 ¥ is a ridiculous price for a TH Kagemitsu, Japanese dealers are no fools. Price is interesting even if ware as there are Kanteisho and Tanobe sayagaki attesting the maker, it is an historical blade. I posted Darcy’s blade to show that there is a huge difference in price between his Kagemitsu and Fred’s one
  12. Piers, Is it possible to give a quick translation (main lines) of Tsuruginoya comments on the blade and of its issues? Ken, 880 000 ¥
  13. Michael, This one was for sale for 40k$ and submitted to Juyo Shinsa http://www.nihonto.ca/osafune-kagemitsu/index.html
  14. https://www.aoijapan.com/tachi-kaga-ju-ryosanshi-masamine-saku-no 20,5 k$
  15. Mumei, probably one of the reasons why...
  16. Thanks a lot Jan
  17. Pete - if I win the Euro Million, I’ll offer it to you and we will go to DTI to collect it
  18. No Bruce, it was not junk as it was your dad’s. Sentimental value is the best one
  19. Received it two days ago, a lot of tokuju blades, a surprising Muramasa hitatsura tanto, a few ko Bizen, a couple of Kunitoshi... BTW, if someone wants free tickets for DTI, just tell me, indicating your full address
  20. Jon, Will it be available as e-book soon?
  21. Jean, Nothing can happen to Stephen, he is already Oyabun
  22. Never needed Sylvain as I did not go as far as katchu
  23. I told you already that’s was the main issue. Tell her you will dust it threetimes a week, that’s the last one, that you’ll never do it again...
  24. Gimeï
