  1. Agreed. It was a lost cause, to start with.
  2. You might start with
  3. A major reseller like Aoi can't afford to lie. But they do take the easiest path, in my experience.
  4. Some type of midare hamon, but it's dead & gone, as others have told you. In future, do not do anything to a blade that you post on NMB, other than gently oiling it!
  5. So, condition isn't important to you? I agree that the price difference is ludicrous, but why would you want a tsuba in such awful condition?
  6. I've both shipped & received shikomizue, with no problems.
  7. Yes, they're visible. Okay, Sojy, now please remove the sheath, and take a few photos of the bare blade. And we post our first names so that you know how to address us.
  8. Click on More Reply Options. At the bottom, you will see a link to load your photos.
  9. Welcome to NMB. Please give us your first name, & it would be nice if you would post photos, so that we can help.
  10. Ah, thanks for clarifying, Peter.
  11. Looks pretty good, & hope it does well at shinsa - some day.
  12. Interesting, but wouldn't you expect something more-unique from an architect?
  13. Photos, Adam.
  14. Tosho is Ono Yoshimitsu. Is it actually for sale, Piers? https://www.touken-matsumoto.jp/eng/product_details_e.php?prod_no=KA-0278 If not the same sword, it's close. Mukansa smith pricing, too.
  15. Lovely blade, great photos.
  16. Just spotted this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOeQc2vCFEY Do we know who made the utsushi?
  17. Nice site, Boris. Drooling over the Heianjo tsuba.
  18. There's an art to drawing a sword, called sayabiki. In essence, you draw the blade as far as you can, without changing your balance, & then pull the saya off the kissaki, freeing the blade for nukitsuke, while keeping your left hand on your obi. Sounds hard, but isn't.
  19. I'm having trouble associating specific koshirae with a ryuha. When I bought my last custom iaito from Tozando, they certainly didn't ask me which school I trained in, or where I'd like the menuki positioned.
  20. Not sure I'd put any money into it. Sure, it's a blade, but not a lot to be learned because of its condition.
  21. Very nice-looking blade, Chris.
  22. Please flip it 180 degrees.
  23. Looks more like two of the geckos on my wall. My first thought would also be Shoami, but Owari & Akasaka also come to mind.
  24. Click on your avatar, which will take you to your Profile, where you can add your first name & initial, per Bran's rules. Welcome to NMB, & for showing us a really-interesting tsuka.
  25. That's interesting, Dave. I was taught that the menuki helped to position the hands. Even today, as soon as I draw my katana, I expect the menuki to be in a certain location in my palms.
