  1. Hi Mark i am not sure if Roy Lindus still has his old web site running ? but he had a lot of swords with all sorts of documentation he got from the previous owners .
  2. Paul i suspected that would be pretty much the answer .
  3. ? Would this happen if a sword was re-tempered ?
  4. Paul it was a very interesting topic ,on shape , and again many thanks to the Token Society for hosting the event. A question i should have asked yesterday , you said a sword with good shape potential means it could be a good sword ! but we never asked what is a good shape or defined it ? i know it must be difficult to recognize for most collectors classic or good shape or to know what even to look for , and also what to look for throughout the different schools and time periods . probably opened a can of worms sorry , just my late thoughts on yesterdays zoom meeting
  5. Steve once again many thanks , on another note, i hope what ever happened to cause Malcolm to withdraw from the NHB ? maybe and hopefully Brian can convince him to rejoin the group.
  6. All , these are not woodblock prints, but paintings on silk all measure approx. 700mm x 500mm , just trying to se if anyone can recognise the signatures ? and confirm they are Japanese artists . There was originally six of these paintings , but unfortunately the antique dealer retained two of the paintings for his on collection ! i never seen the other two , apologies for the poor photos and reflections
  7. Hi Adam from memory an island sword from Sumatra ?
  8. Steve glad to here it is not just me having these rotating / techno problems
  9. Hi Pietro / Bazza tried all that , just sometimes the picture saved cropped /rotated just does not want comply, ??
  10. Steve many thanks, again , adding a better pic of the seals , as requested , hopefully a better in focus pic , sorry i cant seem to rotate them correctly .
  11. Pietro thanks for the link ,checked it out, i could not find the pottery on that site either , another member here has suggested an other forum to check , waiting to see if anything develops .
  12. Thanks to all, for the links and information on the woodblock print run
  13. Piers, all acquired at antique fairs and auctions in Scotland
  14. Malcolm
  15. Malcolm i hope you do not mind some more prints, some of them not in the best condition. -Kuniyoshi Kunisada -Kunisada -Yoshitoshi - Toyakuni -Kyonaga ?
  16. All looking for any Japanese pottery experts out there . I have had this bowl for well over 25yrs , and due to the lock down i have been re looking at some of my Japanese collectables again in a different light , i.e. cleaning them all. anyone recognise the potters name or style or age of the bowl .
  17. Malcolm see what you have started , these are by Koson / Choson , i think he singed with both names ? cropped the prints because the frames and mounts all need some TLC.
  18. Piers purchased in an Edinburgh Antique shop for £50.00 over twenty years ago, the Antique shop is unfortunately long gone , i think i got a good deal
  19. Pietro / Malcolm again many thanks for the info supplied, NB- none of my prints are in any position where they would have any direct sunlight on them ,
  20. All many thanks for all your help ,any chance of a complete translation as one reply , so i can understand the complete translation please,
  21. Pietro yes i know i should have been more careful holding the print, i did very gently brush over the area after with museum grade tissue paper , so hopefully no harm done , when it is remounted i will make sure it is done properly , many thanks,
  22. Malcolm just as well i am planing to renew the original frame and the mount , it is in poor condition , as requested , couple additional of pics . And IMHO this is a genuine Hasui wood block print, not a copy .
  23. Steve / ken / Uwe / Justin / All . many thanks, A singing bowl makes perect sense , when it is struck and it sings and just when you think it has stopped ! if you put your ear as close as possible to the gong without touching you can feel + hear the gong still going on and on . PS. did the other picture show up a clearer reading of the inscription.
  24. Hi Steve many thanks for the additional info on the woodblock prints , i would never found all that info on my own !
