  1. Hi Thomas I do not think I have ever seen a Mantetsu blade that did not have a suguha hamon, lets hope that's correct and they haven't figured that one out yet. Ray
  2. Richard Ditto as above Ray

  6. Hi Gwyn sorry I do not polish swords, I just remembered Roy had owned the sword for a long time and thought he might be able to add a bit of info on it's history ! I may be mistaken but I thought Roy had mentioned in the past it was a Japanese polish ? good luck, Ray

  9. Hi Brock 1. is there any ha - machi and mune machi - not clear in the photos provided 2. looking at the tang is that a blue/ heat treated area next to the new peg hole I hope not, only you can see in hand , is there any signs of heat treatment there ? it may be just the lighting in the photo provided , but obviously the tang has been altered maybe to fit the Gunto Tsuka ? and for what it is worth, to me more like a Shin Shinto blade, but what do I know. Ray
  10. Hi Brock Just an observation, ( quote ) you think all the numbers match on your fittings, but why is the Fuchi on your Tsuka obviously much smaller than Koiguchi on the saya, I would of expected a closer match with the dimensions of these two fittings ! if they were all on suite ? just my quick impressions, obviously could be way of the mark. regards, Ray
  11. HI Bill I am not sure if this is any help, but about 10 years ago I sold off half my swords and Tsuba to friend who had a antique shop in Edinburgh, A customer who was from Taiwan purchased a few items from the shop then asked him to send them to Hong Kong so a friend could smuggle them into Taiwan, because he said it was illegal to own them !!!or import them directly into Taiwan, it may be worth an investigation, good luck. Best regards, Ray
