  1. in my Mon book I found two sets with the same Mon inside a circle. both have more veins than the six yours has....don't know if that makes any difference. fist one is Makino Kasawa in Hitachi Komura in Shinano Nagaoka in Echigo Tanaba in Tango Fujii Kubota Matsuda Nishikigori Ogihara if you would like a scan of the page id be more than glad to post it.

  5. we really cant tell if it deserves a polish without seeing the blade portion. sorry I cant help with the kanji...I'm sure someone can or make that Nobody can. It fits right in on this board as it is a yari, most togi can do it....lets see some pix of the blade part.

    the book you need to study such a wave and high Hamon is The Connoisseur's Book of Japanese Swords by Kokan Nagayam..youll have more fun digging it out of the book from the sound of your background. a very nice looking sword btw...id be a good study sword for sure. edit to add link http://www.amazon.com/Connoisseurs-Book ...   10. indeed...must be n translation, choji oil I believe is mineral oil with a clove additive. How come he's doing it with the tsuka on I don't know, I was taught to do it with a complete bare blade.

    Nigel and Phill ...very few on the board are qualified to call a mei gimei, I showed a sword in Tampa to many tables most come up gimei, a Japanese gentleman said not to worry it was later generation, don't give up the ship until you cover all ports.

  23. I emailed the seller half way thru the auction, he was very confused to say the least, he had many letters saying that it was a fake. He bought the lot of flag, glasses, the sword with the belt and some other items....all that sounded like it was on the up. I think someone took him by taking out a good sword and adding the crapper. Its a sad day when he let it get out of hand the way it did. There's the chance that he was the one, but it did not sound that way to me.
