Ill have to play devil advocate here ...as I usually do...I have removed a few leather covers with various results, if your cover is tatty and falling apart as some do id remove it, it will for the most part be ok, some collectors of military want it untouched some sword collectors always remove it as it makes for a better display. Do what your gut tells you, if you think it'd be better with if off do it. The humidity of Nippon must make them corrode as I have seen few like that in the USA.

none of his auctions on the bay now. And no longer a registered user.....JOB WELL DONE BY ALL!!! :D http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.d ... dback:2:us -
That is a very good point and brings me to ask...when was it brought into play that a sword with a small crack could and will not cut the mustard when it comes to papering, because it would be no good in battle? I can understand that but to say who made the sword and how well it was done how can one judge, one would think that a crack came from to much use right? or was it there all along...??? I cant see that in my mind.....but then i still licking the open sore in my wallet, yes i know crying over spilt milk...ill buckle up in a day or so.

John John, The correct translation of the mei should be "Nara Ichimonji". Some of his blade are gendaito and other is non-traditional as oil temper. I have one tanto and perhap forged by this smith which the mei translated as :Kiku Ichimonju". Quang http://japaneseswords.gotdns.com

out of Japan usually has some good starter blades, this one has tighter grain pattern than most he sells, the price most likely will go up but he is one to put on seller watch. http://cgi.ebay.com/K-Japanese-KATANA-S ... dZViewItem Be sure to check out links above for Yakiba, Nihontocraft, and Louie at Japanese Sword collector has a good entry wak for a fair price.
