I cannot read several important kanji on the saya. Please correct me if I am wrong. 相州廣次 – Soshu Hirotsugu 生茎(有銘??? or 無銘???)也 – Ubu-Nakago, (signed??? or unsigned???) 出来見事也 – Workmanship is excellent. 刃長六寸八分余有之 – Blade length is 6 Shaku 8 Bu odd. 昭和甲寅年(水無月???) – (June???) of 1974 寒山(誌?) – Kanzan wrote.

The inscription is a little different from the example on Dr. Stein’s site. 謹作 高山刀 (Kinsaku Takayama-To) – respectfully made Takayama-To 刀匠 石原正直 (Tosho: Ishihara Masanao) – smith’s name 研師 熊﨑富一 (Togishi: Kumazaki Tomiichi) – polisher’s name

The writing may be the previous owner’s name. 飛山 (Hiyama or Tobiyama) - family name 二平 (Nihei?) - given name

At first I thought that it was a lance or something. But now I am thinking that it might be a part of decorated fences.

The mei looks like; 豫劦æ¾å±±ä½ (Yo-shu Matsuyama ju) 正阿弥 x x (Shoami + something). I cannot decipher the last one or two characters. They could be 家久 (Iehisa???)…... only a guess.

I would like to point out that “Teikoku Hamono (刃物; Cutlery) Co., Ltd.†is not proved to be “Teikoku Seitetsu (製éµ; Steel) Co., Ltd.†yet. Or is it a known fact? Generally, “Teikoku +something +Co. Ltd†is a common naming for private companies. And the name does not necessarily mean being the same company or the same group.

I really cannot understand the meaning of the last four characters. But that could be an uncommon name. 石徳調之 (Ishitoku Shigeyuki; reading???) – family name + given name

The mei reads Seijo (清乗). Maybe one of Goto school. However, I do not know if it is genuine or not.

I wrote the poems in the same order as them on the blade. However, it is apparent that the choiceｓ of characters (i.e. Kanji or Kana) are different from my descriptions in some parts. I have not yet read the inscriptions in detail. I think that Morita-san can easily read them.

Although I cannot read all characters, I can identify the six poets and their poems, because they are famous as well as their poems. These are the poets and their poems.
