1. Thanks for the report! Some very interesting objects. /Martin
2. Welcome aboard! /Martin
3. Markus, The scan is from my book "Sword of Oita Prefecture part 1 - 大分県の刀", One of the BungoTo bibles. I have been doing some research going back and forth considering YUKI or SHIGE and now I lean towards SHIGE. What I did find was that some SHIGE characters have been chiselled in by smiths like "mine" with a prolonged vertical stroke through the body below, whereas on most YUKI they seem not to be straight at the \_/-part (幸) when the SHIGE normally is |_|(重). Regarding Jidai; it fits 1600-1700 era and it is difficult to say where it should be. Perhaps a better fit in the Genroku. Keichō (慶長, 1596-1615) Genroku (元禄, 1688-1704) Thank you for looking. /Martin
4. One year later... I have done some more study on the signature. Two options: 1. YOSHIYUKI 2. YOSHISHIGE Does anyone have any info/oshigata of YOSHISHIGE? 豊後國高田住藤原吉重 豊後住吉重 /Martin
5. Justin, Good! I went for the "appraisal option" which I thought was lowest odds : ) /Martin
6. Hello, Seems like - Yonin/four people and Saba/to judge My conclusion: A four person judgement or judged by four persons. /Martin
7. Hello, I agree with all said so far. I would like to add that the Fujishiro paper is collectable as stand alone and adding to the appraised item. Why not have the item new type Hozon papers as well. It will help one day when the item is to be sold should that happen. /Martin
8. Jean, Thx..again. /Martin
9. All, Can access messages now. Sent "TEST ONLY" to you Brian and your reply came through. /Martin
10. Ron, Here are some photos of a Koshirae I have. I do not know if it is "Malachite" or "Azurite". Perhaps someone knows the type and material. It is a mix of green, red and amber flakes. /Martin

12. All, Yes, I had problems 6 hours ago. Site time 13-ish. I did not check for messages, but there was an issue reaching the site "http://www.militaria.co.za/nmb" I got the message, from 2 different networks, unreachable. Which suggests DNS problems. /Martin EDIT: Sorry. forgot the headbanger:
13. Jean, Thx. Morita, Nice! 101,000 looks pretty cheap for that one. : D /Martin
14. Bazza, Is this also "Malachite"? Perhaps Malachite must be green. /Martin
15. Josh, I agree. I was focusing too much on the newer file marks and did not pay enough attention to the hamon. /Martin
16. Grev, Thanks. It looks like a big chunk of the tang has been cut off and reshaped. If you have the opportunity and will; send it to a Shinsa team for papering. /Martin
17. Grev, It would be nice to see the Nakago with the Habaki removed. High res-ish. /Martin
18. Hi Grev, It looks fine from the pictures I see. Can we have some more? Get another one and become a collector!!! /Martin
19. Franco, By definition the word "collection" refers to a group of something. One item or person does not for a group nor collection. Therefore "one good sword" is not a collection nor a group. /Martin
20. One good sword is not a collection. /Martin
21. Brian, That looks like Russian. Yes, I will let the experts do the translation. : ) /Martin
22. It is so difficult to read and spell when characters are askew : ) /Martin
23. Curran, I know extremely little of tsubas and fittings, but I enjoy looking at the fine art they are. Having said that...I have never seen a K/Z Mei on a tsuba before. It would be very interesting to see one...googling the net now... /Martin
