1. Hello, I'm perhaps being a bit premature in my judgement, but it looks Chinese to me. /Martin
2. Hello Hans, It does not at all look like a Kotetsu sword from any angle. Who at NBTHK made this statement? Or was this a misinterpretation by me? Looking at the pictures, I would say/guess it's derives from the Bungo region. /Martin
3. Hello, I think this is a self defense weapon brought into environments where cutting instruments was forbidden. Similar to the Tessen and its sub usage, /Martin
4. Hello, On Chineses issues, the hamon does come off in polish : ) /Martin
5. Hello, Try to be friend with the camera : ) The lights and flashes are not helping. /Martin
6. Hello, Lovely and rare blade nonetheless. Can I ask what the price was? /Martin
7. Hello, It is KANEMOTO, where the date only indicates Year and Month. Find out which Kanemoto and then you will have the date. EDIT: Sorry, it only indicates month 5 a lucky day. /Martin
8. Hello, Shin-shinto blade and yes, unfortunately cleaned. If you wait another 300 years the patina will come back to you. Maybe a Mino blade with kesho yasurime as it appears. Kanefusa school? It is not a school or region that I have studied so hard, but there will be more advanced collectors here that may give you an answer. /Martin
9. Hello, It helps if you give us photos to start with. Measurements would be nice to have too. I cannot see any uploaded images. /Martin
10. J.D. /Martin
11. Kam, I have a Nagamaki with Bo Hi carvings (original). /Martin
12. I have seen such blades being claimed to be shortened/ cut down Naginata before. Are you 100% sure Jacques? /Martin
13. Hello, Naginata is normally not reshaped, Nagamaki could be (as post above). Cut down Nagamaki and Naginata could be signed. /Martin
14. Brian, Your translation is correct. /Martin
15. Yes, Very nice Chinese blade. Excellent is a word that also can be used. SAI SAI JO JO SAKU. /Martin
16. Dave, I think you need to polish your photo skills : ) Bad image focus makes it difficult for me to help. Please check the pictures before you post. /Martin
17. Hello, I think it is a Bungo Takada sword. If you can provide some additional photos of boshi, hamon and hada I can check tomorrow. It looks to be hitatsura/ full temper. Please verify. It helps to know. /Martin
18. ...or...you can put it on E-bay and sell it for $500+ /Martin
19. Marcello, I don't know what a good NYC dinner for 2 will end up at when it comes to money : ) I'm sure it is good deal though. /Martin
20. Hello, Give it a squirt with an aerosol type of lubricant before you soak it totally. If you don get it off today you might get it off tomorrow. Try easy first and then scale up "violence". http://weldtite.co.uk/products/detail/t ... lon-150ml' /Martin
21. Hello, Take a look at Echizen and Yasutsugu school around 1615 and forwards. /Martin
22. Ouch! That bad news : ( However, it says dates are subject to change on the site. Perhaps someone realised that there are few pre-regs. I hope they put the dates forward. /Martin
23. Ilijah, It has the correct length and nakago looks right, but it is difficult to judge the signature due to the way it is shown in the photo. Such a sword should be papered. : ) /Martin
24. Hello, Probably ISE/勢州 Seishu. EDIT: I don't think it is 1st or 2nd, but it looks Kuwana to me. It may be 3rd. I could be wrong. I need to check a sword from my collection. Please provide us with some measurements. /Martin
25. George, I cannot see what you see. Are my eyes failing me? /Martin
