1. Brian, It is ammunition for a stepping weapon. Crossbow or likewise. /Martin
2. Howdy, Does anyone of you guys have anything on: TAMEYASU - [陸奥守橘爲康 mutsu no kami tachibana tameyasu], referred to as being included in; KISHU ISHIDOl, OSAKA KII http://nihontoclub.com/smiths/TAM190 I have the FUJISHIRO, but need more info. Books where supposedly oshigata or info exist are here: 1. "Token Bijutsu" (English edition).N.B.T.H.K.#s 1-59. (complete) 2. Shinto Taikan.Iimura Yoshifumi. Vol.s 1 and 2Nihon-To Zuikan: Shinto-Hen.Kataoka. 1977 edition. 3. Nihonto Koza.Homma Kunzan Sato Kanzan. 4. Nihon-To Zuikan: Shinto-Hen.Kataoka. 1984 edition. 5. Newsletter.JSS/US.Volumes 12,3 6. Florida Token Kai Newsletter 7. Zuikan Tomei Soran.Iida Kazuo Thank you. /Martin
3. Paul, More of a retro statement/feedback, as Brian was/is considering sending swords to polish that I personally wouldn't bother having polished (and others). It is NihontoNoBrian and he makes the calls. Just recommendations... I'm sure it looks better on-line than online, but the Boshi needs a massage. /Martin
4. Another thing! I just saw it. I knew something was "wrong". I has been shortened. Brian, you should see some newer file marks on the Mune about an Inch+ thick. /Martin
5. Definitely worth sending to polish. /Martin
6. Jacques D., I think all generations H/M had Kesho. I did not see any Kesho before the Appraisals was submitted. EDIT: A polisher would save that feature. I can see it faintly now when I look and it doesn't look preserved. /Martin
7. Paul, VERY, as in very very interested. Not doubtful. It seems to lack the Mishina boshi and the hamon to close to the Ha as opposed to the Shinogi (not being Sugu ba). If it is attributed to the Mishina and Hisamichi, it is an attribution. Nothing more to say. I need to read more! /Martin
8. Hello, As a collector of Mishina it would be VERY interesting to see the attribution. /Martin
9. Adam, I have a lot of papered Koshirae. My opinion is as follows. I am probably wrong. If you have a nice koshirae and not so nice tsuba it is sent in as a whole and everything will get papered. If you have accessories like Kogatana and/or other extras, the same goes there; it all gets documented. For a novice like me; I cannot tell the difference to what REALLY got papered. The different papers I have are like; ToenSha (Murakama), Kicho, Tokubetsu Kicho, for complete fittings. But I know for sure that some of the fittings included would NOT get papered alone. This will hopefully evolve into an interesting thread. /Martin
10. It could simply be used together with a customised Kogatana with a larger grip for better stabbing. /Martin
11. They could be Harakiri marks. Five successful or 5 not so...
12. Hello, I would say not. Never seen a Y/D with a thinned out section before the boshi. It would probably brake if used as a Y/D on armour. /Martin
13. Thank you Morita, I have studied the Nakamara bok and some info on the internet. Tomecho was a register as I interpreted which, as you said, was destroyed in fire. /Martin
14. Morita, Thank you. I have checked, but not found what I'm looking for. /Martin
15. Yes Adam, I think is the variants we know as "typical" Bizen. It should be interesting to see the rest Bizen specimen. /Martin
16. Hi all, I want to ask you if anyone of you know anything of an appraisal group during the EDO period, the ORIGAMI or group is supposedly called "SHOAMI". Perhaps I misspelled... I'm trying to find it on the internet, but it fails me. In the book "Japanese Swords" Nobuo Nakamara does mention "SOEJO", "TOMECHO", /Martin
17. Here is a Bizen Norimitsu with the Kengyo type Nakago: /Martin
18. Adam, Not the one I was referring to, but almost a ringer. The one I was referring to was more like a hybrid between Kengyo/Ichimonji where the HA end was notably higher. Check link also... http://toyuukai.com/2012/05/%E5%82%99%E ... %E5%85%89/ NORIMITSU - 1462, 8TH MONTH.jpg /Martin
19. Adam, At least one generation of Norimitsu changed style. I think it was 4th or 5th. I believe it was Kengyo-ish style. I agree to the fact that this Nakago does not trigger Bizen brain cell activity. It would be nice to learn something new. /Martin
20. 米戸 can also be pronounced as KOMEDO or YONEDO. 戸 can carry the sound as: IE, DO, TO, TOU, DOU. /Martin
21. Chtistophe, No worries. If you can post it it could help. Uji is normally translated as Family Name, but I have seen it in name of place as well. /Martin
22. Hello again, I believe that the kanji refers to a place rather than a name. You have the "UJI" character in the end.... /Martin
23. Thank you, Would it be possible to see the item if there is a signature there? I'm not really sure that 戸 and 牢 is correctly transferred.... The difference of the translation can be huge. /Martin
24. Again... I don't want to spend time chasing ghosts. Unless you are certain of the kanji you should not post the text only. 水戸....米戸....MITO
25. Hi there, Any chance that you got the Kanji wrong? Any photo or text quote? /Martin
