The Cutest Turtle I Have Seen

Yesterday found this tsuba, a little brass tsuba.

I would say its probably gendai or meiji period, doesn't seem very old.

Personally i would feel bad mounting it, kinnda like stabbing a baby turtle 

I have never seen a tsuba shaped like a turtle in this way, remembers me to the mushroom heads tsubas,

What do you guys think about the age? Is this a common design? Comparing examples of turtles in Japanese tsubas

with this one,they appear to have a different aesthetic.

Interesting find, Jose. Being somewhat of a turtle expert, your tsuba is actually a composite of two, or possibly three, different species. The head is that of a water turtle, the main body is that of many tortoise species, & I'm not sure about the feet, as they're not quite in focus.

Perhaps a tourist item, rather new. KOZUKA HITSU is sloppily shaped.

Valery- This is a pretty little unusual tsuba. It is signed, but I cannot see the signature. Who is the maker?
