Bazza Posted August 29 Report Posted August 29 Oh, nearly forgot this one. Its a wakizashi saya with minute scratches in the black lacquer imitating wood grain. I've heard/read a rat's tooth is used for this type of work. 2 Quote
Alex A Posted August 29 Report Posted August 29 Heres another. Dont know the Japanese term but the seller described it as "tree bark" texture. I think its supposed to resemble pine bark, like the way if flows as if the saya is a tree trunk. Picture dont show it but it has like a red hue colour under the black which pops out under light. 3 Quote
Lewis B Posted August 29 Report Posted August 29 This rather colourful koshirae accompanied a Norishige wakizashi. It was made in 1974, with urushi and maki-e work by Sato Shisen at age of 73. Born in 1902 and a disciple of Rokkaku Shisui. Apparently these took 3 months to complete. 3 Quote
