Mark Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 This is an invitation to any NMB members attending the Chicago show this coming weekend. There will be a NMB Reception at Chicago Sword Show Saturday 4/30/2016 at 9pm (show closes at 9pm) Hyatt room 2321. Enjoy a glass of wine, beer , soft drink, or a glass of single malt (courtesy of NMB, thanks Brian) . To find room Room 2321 from the show it is up the stairs, turn right, left at the short set of stairs and room on the left. There is an elevator if needed. Ask me, Grey or my family if you need more information. Please make sure we mention this to any NMB members at the show who may have missed the announcement. We will take a few pictures, so anyone with a camera bring it, if not i can use my phone. Maybe we can encourage more people to join the board. See you there! 1 Quote
SwordGuyJoe Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 I'll have my 6 year old in tow, so I may not be able to attend. Besides, he prefers double malt. Kids these days, am I right? 2 Quote
tokashikibob Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 Gents, Sounds like fun! Unfortunately I'll be flying out that afternoon, plus I think I read from the Sword Forum or FB that the NMB private receptions usually have waterboarding and other SERE fun conducted by Stephen to extract information on choice gun shows and flea market locations were bargains are found. Best Regards, Bob 1 Quote
Mark Posted April 25, 2016 Author Report Posted April 25, 2016 Joe I have no problem with you stopping by with your son, i will have soft drinks and i doubt we will be too rowdy of you come early. If there are some who will not be able to attend maybe we can also take a picture of those during the show on Saturday. Someone can organize that if they can. Quote
Brian Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 C'mon guys...how often does the NMB buy you a drink?Make a plan to pop in for a few minutes, have a toast and share stories of how the day went. Then update us and let us live vicariously through you. 2 Quote
SwordGuyJoe Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 I am planning on stopping by if he can make it that late. Quote
Mark Posted May 1, 2016 Author Report Posted May 1, 2016 here are a couple of pictures form the reception. Everyone enjoyed having a drink on Brian. A number of NMB had to leave Saturday before the reception, i think if we get together next year we will have to try something earlier. But it was a lot of fun 2 Quote
Brian Posted May 1, 2016 Report Posted May 1, 2016 I fear for my future as a Nihonto collector, as I have neither mustache nor beard. :rotfl: Names to the pics? Know most, but one or 2 new faces. Show report? 1 Quote

SwordGuyJoe Posted May 2, 2016 Report Posted May 2, 2016 And Owen hiding behind me, a respectable distance from John's table. He's already told me that he wants to learn Japanese and move to Japan to be a swordsmith. Not sure I've ever been more proud as a father than that moment. 4 Quote
Ron STL Posted May 3, 2016 Report Posted May 3, 2016 Fully intended to join in on the fun and games, but after two NBTHK/American sessions (excellent), the NMB "prosit" session got missed. An old man can only handle so much fun and games! Ron STL Quote
