rodrig4 Posted November 9, 2015 Report Posted November 9, 2015 Hello. Could you give me your opinion on this naginata. Signed対馬守 藤原 貞重 Tsushima-no-kami Fujiwara Sadashige, who is the famous swordsmith in Bishu (Now, Aichi Prefecture) . Sadashige’s real name is鈴木市左衛門 Suzuki Ichizaemon Sadashige learned the skill from貞幸Sadayuki and made lots of great quality of swords and Naginatas around寛文頃Kanbun era 1661~1672. Hamon of this Naginata is Nie-deki and Gonome-midare with Suguha. This blade must get influence from Soshu-den and has beautiful Hamon. There is beautiful Naginata-hi (Koshi-hi) carving. There is Hamon even at Mune area. Judging from Nakago, this blade is not thinner because of polishing, therefore this blade is beautiful appearance. Recent polishing. <Blade> Hacho(Blade length): 44.1cm Sori (Curvature): 1.6cm Motomihaba (Width at the Hamachi):3.09cm Motokasane(Thickness of Motokasane): 8.1mm Sakimihaba: 3.12cm Sakikasane: 5.9mm Nakago (The tang of the blade) Length: 34.6cm Material: Iron Hamon: Nie-deki and Gonome-midare with Suguha Jihada: Ko-mokume-hada Mune: Mitsumune # of Mekugi-ana(the hole for the mekugi): 1 Signature: 対馬守 藤原 貞重 Tsushima-no-kami Fujiwara-Sadashige Weight (Approx.): 575g –Blade only high quality one, influenced by Soshu-den. Jean Posted November 10, 2015 Report Posted November 10, 2015 The blade seems fine from pictures. Is it papered? Quote
Isocyanide Posted November 10, 2015 Report Posted November 10, 2015 Did you buy this? I saw it on one of the auctions, forgot which, with one bid on it. Quote
Jean Posted November 10, 2015 Report Posted November 10, 2015 Rodrigues, Steve is right. What is the aim of this post? What do you want to know? Don't hesitate to ask questions straightforward. If you want to buy it, ask for Shinsa guarante, if you have bought it, hope you paid the price of a mumei blade. The blade in itself is Ok. Quote
Teimei Posted November 10, 2015 Report Posted November 10, 2015 Hi Guys, it was an ebay auction. The Price was okay (i think), for a mumei blade. Papers were not mentioned by the seller. regards, Quote
Marius Posted November 10, 2015 Report Posted November 10, 2015 Seller's nick was katana-maeda, or something like this, I think (judging by the pics). This shop seems to have pretty decent stuff and their asking prices are reasonable. Blade looks very nice, has koshirae, too. Chances are you have done well 1 Quote
Curran Posted November 10, 2015 Report Posted November 10, 2015 Minor point: 尾州 (Bishu) in relation to this naginata, another name for Owari Province vs 備州 (Bishu), the one many of us collectors know better. 1 Quote

AndyMcK Posted November 10, 2015 Report Posted November 10, 2015 I purchased from him few years back and price was very reasonable and shipping plus other communication excellent. He seems to find something to sell every now and then, a good seller to keep on followed list. -Antti Quote
