Sennin Kohaku (Kokaku) visited Mount Bui and there he read fairy books. He is usually shown seated on a stork or a crane above the clouds. He's in Legend in Japanese Art on page 186.

It may work out cheaper for people in the UK as we have to pay £13.50 customs processing fee + duty/vat etc. So if we can pay the customs charge upfront we would save the £13.50 straight away... -

Thanks everyone for the help so far. Wasn't Kanefusa born in 1900. It seems a bit unlikely he would make this tanto when he was 89?

A friend owns a nice small tanto in black lacquered saya/tsuka that is made by Fujiwara Kanefusa. Does anyone have any idea which generation of Kanefusa this is? Presumably its not the 23rd as he would have been too old? Also I think the tanto is a special order, can anyone help with a translation of the name? Thanks, Peter

Yep I thought this was shin-shinto too. I not even sure the sword would sell for $6k fully restored, whoever bought it has definitely over paid.

Your better off viewing them in person, they generally don't mention kizu in the reports. I bought one they told me had no problems and it had a nasty fukure.

The advantage of dealing with a seller like Bill Tagg is that he will take swords/fittings etc. in trade and give you a fair price for them. You can trade in a couple of mumei wakizashi throw in a few hundred quid and upgrade to a better sword. You just can't do this with the vast majority of other dealers in the UK, and its really the best way for beginners to progress in the hobby.
