    Bizen Katana

No sign of a yakidashi, the hamon going into the nakago is the same width all the way down the first mekugi-ana.

    Bizen Katana

    It's a sugu boshi with ko-maru.
  3. Updates are pushed out free of charge. Next time the user opens the book on his kindle/ipad etc. the book automatically updates to the latest version. Converting PDF's to epub is quite easy, you can use the open source program Calibre and it does everything for you automatically. http://calibre-ebook.com

    Bizen Katana

Hi Geraint, I think originally it would have been around 28" nagasa. The boshi is hard to photo, I've attached a picture in which you can just about see it, its wide. I did consider Bungo, but most of the Bungo choji I've seen have been nioi and not nie based like this hamon. Thanks, Peter

    Bizen Katana

I have a katana in gunto mounts that is suriage and has a gimei Sukehiro inscription. It has a wide choji nie based hamon with crab claws, the jigane is a tight ko-itame with lots of ji-nie. It also has muneyaki that runs down about 50% of the blade. Given the shape I wondered if it might be a Shinto Sukesada or something like that? Sorry for the poor photos but the state of the polish makes it quite difficult. The blade is 26.5". Thanks, Peter
  7. Is there no possibility of you adding your books to the Kindle or Apple book store? They both give the ability to push out updates/corrections so no need for an errata.
  8. You can only use the voucher once and for one book only I think.
  9. Just purchased the koshirae book, came to just over £20 delivered in the UK.
  10. Can anyone help with this inscription that I found inside a combat cover? I presume it is the owners name. Thanks, Peter
  11. Definitely Shin-Shinto, especially since its ubu. I think it was made in the style of a koto blade.
  12. Thanks for the information, I'm now the owner of this sword so I will try and put up some photos. Is there any way to trace the original owner? I guess the Japanese must have an equivalent of ancestry.co.uk? Also as the original owner had a surname presumably he must have been samurai? Would the inscription have been done by the swordsmith who made the sword or perhaps a later addition? Sword is ubu and appears to be shin-shinto.
  13. Can anyone assist me with this wakizashi that belongs to a friend. Quite a tricky one for me anyway. Thanks, Peter
  14. Thanks Morita san for the translation help. Chris was this smith any good? Do you know who he trained under? Thanks, Peter
  15. Anyone have any thoughts on this gendaito mei? My best guess is Aizu Shigefusa, and I believe he is the guy in Slough from Fukushima. Any further information on the swordsmith would be most appreciated. Sorry for the poor quality images but thats all I have to work with for now. Thanks, Peter
  16. Try contacting Tony Norman (UK) and see if he will assist: tonynormanjapaneseswordpolisher@hotmail.com It will cost you a lot more than 300 Euro's to send it to Japan with custom fees etc.
  17. Tell your Dad For Pistols/Revolvers to try http://www.mjnoble.co.uk/ I have found him to be one of the best dealers in the UK and he is 100% honest with great prices. Birmingham fair is generally a bad place to buy as the prices are sky high.
  18. Are you aware of Bill Tagg's shop in Cheapside, Liverpool? Last time I visited he had a couple of WW2 Nagamitsu in stock.....
  19. If your in the UK then its not possible to bid on swords in the US unless they are listed outside of the sword categories.
  20. Lists on both sites I believe. Seems to be quite a common business practice with Japanese sellers.
  21. Received my tanto this morning, very happy with it no problems in the end.
  22. Got a reply, all good. :D
  23. Worth a try I have emailed him directly. I will report back on the conclusion.
  24. Well he's had my money over 2 weeks now and I have heard nothing from him. Obviously he has to get an export permit but I find it odd that he doesn't reply to any messages I send him asking for an update.
  25. Yes that's what I find quite strange that his feedback is pretty decent.
