  1. Royal Mail and Parcelforce are still ok for swords.
  2. This koshirae recently passed shinsa in Japan, I will try and post the paper when it returns. I believe they dated it to the edo period. The blade came back as a Koto Bungo smith and was deemed worthy of higher level papers. So all in all a good result.
  3. Kickstarter is perfect because it gives a commitment to buy without taking the money. If the whole thing falls through it avoids the admin nightmare of having to refund everyone. It also prevents someone running away with the money after we have all paid. For an extra 10% its well worth it.
  4. I've bought a couple of items from Hitendo. He's excellent to deal with.
  5. Oh well thanks for the help everyone I guess this means it probably isn't gimei. :?
  6. Hopefully this oshigata might help. Even in hand you just can't see it any better.... I think 高田住斐行久 is closest but I'm not certain on the 斐? Bazza I think it is Yukihisa, I don't think the final kanjii is a kore.
  7. Thanks Curran. Anyone have any idea on the rest of the mei as I'm stumped. :?
  8. Thanks for the help Martin I will have a look tomorrow and see if I can figure out which it is.
  9. I recently purchased this fuchi and I wondered if anyone could help with the mei? Thanks, Peter
  10. Does this mean it is likely gimei? It seems odd that the kanji are the wrong way around.
  11. I've uploaded a better photo of the mei and a couple of the blade. The mei is still quite difficult to see as it is quite worn. It has a gunome hamon with itame hada. I still can't figure out if it is minamoto after the ju or another kanji?
  12. I think under the kiku-mon is 雷除 kaminari-yoke. (Protection from Lightning).
  13. Kickstarter would be a great idea. It would also make it a lot easier to promote to non-NMB members.
  14. Hi Martin, I will upload some more photos tonight. Thanks, Peter
  15. Yes I think so, must be where zen-gallery sources his items?
  16. Another! http://www.ebay.com/itm/221233236890
  17. Unfailing devotion to one's country
  18. A friend has an interesting wakizashi that is signed Takada ju minamoto(?) Yukihisa. I can't find a match in Hawleys does anyone have any ideas? The blade is quite unusual, and is a nagamaki shape with quite a deep sori. It appears to be koto. Thanks, Peter
  19. Thanks for the help with the translation Morita san. Does anyone know the date of birth for this Hiromitsu so I can figure out the date it was made?
  20. Hi Stephen, Yes its a really nice quality blade too. Peter
  21. Anyone have any information on this gendaito smith? I believe it is signed Chikuzen no Ju Kajihara Rokuro Hiromitsu - shichi ju hachi xx saku. I'm not sure on the significance of the 78 xx saku? Thanks, Peter
  22. You are spot on, the seller knows fine well they are fakes but deliberately doesn't mention it in his listings. Dishonest IMHO.
  23. Hi Brent, Thanks for the oshigata. I do think it is Eisho myself, but you can't really be certain as the kanjii is not visible. Anyone else have any Harumitsu oshigata (preferably tanto) for me to compare? The workmanship in the blade does seem consistent with Harumitsu. Thanks, Peter
  24. If you can see utsuri on this blade I'd say its most likely tsukare-utsuri.
  25. Can anyone help with this Bizen tanto mei? I'm not 100% certain on the date and I guess with the first character obliterated by the mekugi-ana it will be difficult to confirm. Bizen kuni ju Osafune Harumitsu Ei(or ten)sho hachi nen hachi gatsu kichi jitsu (1511 or 1580?) Also any thoughts if the mei is genuine? Thanks, Peter
