    Even with this angle you can see dark patches and many pits. Like when polishing granite you can „tear out” softer grain.

    Blade was once polished with care [9 nagashi lines under habaki]. But I see shintetsu here so it is old tired tamahagane. I can’t estimate value but it’s wakizashi so You should wait some years with selling this. Dr @Rivkin maybe would correct me about quality of this piece

    Miyabi is a reseller. Look around you will find this example cheaper. Dunno how he got all those positive comments but not from selling swords.

    Guys dunno If I should mention it here but many sources predicts increasing interest rates on yen by another 0.25% this month. Dunno if it will end same way as in july 2024. But I expect that Usd/Jpy ratio will drop. Though usd is not my basic currency. I just want to notice this situation as many members want to make purchases in coming days.

    One question from me: whether nihonto market adjusts prices in relation to currency fluctuations? Yen droped 40% in 15 years. Imo high end old blades are bad investment

    Mekugi ana are made in similar spot so theory that chuso position depends on it isn’t reliable. Still boston’s murata-to is in T94 but without second hanger [if original to blade?]
