    Kabuto?

As Simon stated! The shape is called “shiinari” or “zūdaka no toppai”. I this case, however, a replica!
  2. Dale, your examples are rather depicting “井桁” (igeta = well frames)!
  3. It's a imperial date "皇紀二千六百三年六月吉日" (lucky day on the 6th month 1943...) Ah, Ray was faster...

    Possible Jingasa

    I’ve to admit that I’m puzzled….
  5. Unfortunately, pure guesswork here! Bruce tried something, but the fact that non of our wizards jumped in might mean something…
  6. ….and for the age, I guess we have “七十有餘作之”.
  7. I think it’s “松壽斎” (Shōjusai), Piers…
  8. …and a very nice guy 👍

    Showa armor?

Or younger! Have a look here, for example: https://samuraistore...ions/marutake-armory
  10. Very good kabuto, Gary 👍 The koshimaki seems to be covered by a soft metal band?….unusual!
  11. It’s not an antique gusoku, Kurt! That means modern made, hence not a real samurai armor. A little research would bring up the company that made it…
  12. As previous mentioned by Piers and John, authentic! These are “Tosei-Sode” (generic term) probably dating back to the Edo period. Indeed quite cheap…
  13. Hy Ryan! I think it reads “忠孝作” (Tadataka saku). Made by Tadataka. A Shōwa smith (1926-1989). Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a reference at a glance. So wait for the specialists in this field here….
  14. Thanks for sharing, Peter 👍 BTW, there is one Ō-Yoroi (composite and younger) housed in a German museum!
  15. Seems to be “菊秀“ (Kikuhide). 11th month shōwa 18 = 1943…
  16. Hello Ron! Maybe better to post this question in the Tosogu-section?!
  17. Welcome Blaise! It is signed: “興亜一心 満鐵作之” (Kōa Isshin Mantetsu kore o saku) “昭和辛己春 (Spring 1941)
  18. Welcome Paul! “薩州奥平元全” (Sasshū Oku Taira Motomasa) it seems….
  19. I first read it as Kōzuke….
  20. I read “義重” (Yoshishige).
  21. I would guess “唐津住正國” (Karatsu jū Masakuni).
  22. Oops...I was obviously confused by 書 instead of 証. Thanks Steve!
  23. My first guess, Grey: ”貴重小道具認定書付” (kichô kodôgu nintei kakitsuke). That means something like "precious kodôgu with certification papers"...I hope
