    for $175 on ebay

Hi Jock, nice find. Looks a bit like nagamaki naoshi, or done in this style. Bought a similar one on e-bay years ago (as a newbie ) after polishing it turned out as an flawless tegai blade. I think, this is called Luck. Well, Reinhard get it on the nail in only one point. Newbies shouldn't do so It`s dangerous out there and without a proper knowledge background, buying unpolished questionable blades is the best way to waste money (discussed many times here) Furthermore I can`t share the view of Reinhard (whether German or not). I sensed the statement as disproportionate and unhelpfully. Sorry Reinhard. We had to take care not to frighten newbies or other collectors this way. Uwe
  3. ..........what you measured is kasane :D Saki haba = width at kisaki Moto haba = width at machi Uwe PS: What Stephen mentioned above, please sign your posts with your real name. It`s one of the few rules on this board
  4. I don`t think so. But "we" need to know: moto haba, saki haba and kasane........and the sword in hand Uwe
  5. Hi Jock, regarding the mon "Maru ni chigai-taka no ha" is quite common. First guess, Asano , Daimyo at Hiroshima in Aki. Although, one have to consider the color. For example, the Abe family used this mon too in a brown color. Furthermore, I`m with Pete Uw
  6. Hmmm..... there are some flaws and some pitting in the kisaki area. Otherwise, rather long waki with apparently darker steel surface. Yasurime, hada and boshi indistinguishable. Hamon, partly midare based sugu-ha mixed with..?.., maybe nioi-deki Shape leads me to koto / late muromachi. Hehe....seems to be a game of dice without further informations :? I`m sure there are more knowledgeable people around here...............hey folks come on, brainstorming  Uwe
  7. Hi Shinigami117S.....? Quite difficult to tell you anything with substance based on the pics. The nakago looks very odd to me, obviously dilettantish modified Some close up from kissaki and mune would be good........ Uwe
  8. Agree with Gabriel. The swords are lit very well.........with one or two exceptions. Unfortunately, it`s strictly not allowed to take any pics Uwe
  9. Hi Ray, just back from NY ( visited the exhibition two times ) "The Hasebe" was on display.....3rd room if I remember well Uwe
  10. Hada of the blade in question looks a bit like my Mino Kanefusa Uwe

    help needed

Maybe, Fujiwara Shigeyuki. I wonder why so much Yuki`s around Uwe
  12. We (my wife and me) will be there too, next week :D Uwe
  13. Hi Folks, I probably will be there last week in October, in spite of my fear of flying Uwe
  14. I`m afraid it`s only the beginning .......... However, ebay.de did the first step years ago Uwe
  15. definitely too much, in my opinion ......compared with the wide of the hamon. You have to consider, that not a few yamato blades showing originally hoso-suguha ( like my sue tegai nagamaki naoshi, or my recently bought kongoboje katana) Anyhow, an interesting topic Uwe
  16. Hi Veli, if your sword really have motokasane of 0,6mm, then its obviously polished a good many times  Seriously, it`s not so easy to find out how much wide (mihaba) a blade have lost over times. Usually you had to look at the mune and compare the thickness of nakago with the thickness of the blade, then you can make an appraisal of the situation. Unfortunately, this says nothing about changes of mihaba Uwe
  17. Hi Folks, I`m watching Tsuruta san`s site a couple of years. Meanwhile it seems to me , that many of his "lower priced" blades have an mediocre to bad polish. Especially kissaki area looks mostly vague! Otherwise I`m with Carlo Uwe PS: Mark, look on Moses site occasionally

    virtual Kantei ;-)

Hmmm.... obviously machi okuri and probably shortened also! My belly told me Nambokucho, but I don`t trust him, because it looks to healthy :? Uwe
  19. Hi folks, considering the blackish jigane (not really sure, because of the whitish Mino hada developed later ) and the obviously missing togari, let me eliminate the Mino backround. Soshu (Naotsuna?) or Yamato Taima would worth a bet My two cents...... Uwe
  20. I`m curious of what comes out...... Uwe
  21. Ok, sounds logical. But such a thing once to be supposed on koto blades, don`t you think? For the "Kunikane" .....NFI....., never seen a blade from this den. I myself go for Hosho, although the Tegai idea is not bad at all, considering the Nioiguchi. On the other hand....Sue Tegai.....shouldn't we see slight Kaeri All in all, not so easy as I thought at first Uwe
  22. Hi Thomas, nice to "see" you here, as well as in the "Budoforum" What leads you to this assumption Cheers Uwe
  23. Hi Jean, indeed, fine swords on AOI recently. In that case, I go for YH as well. Cheers Uwe
  24. Hi Piers, Oh yes....we keep the tape, it`s supposed against deep flying birds...... Well, seriously Speyer is located about 90 km south of Frankfurt am Main. So should be no problem for you, to reach it from Japan over the weekend  Thanks Uwe
  25. Hi Eric, unfortunately nothing in terms of an exhibition-catalog, but an book about Samurai showing and describing some displayed items. Greetings Uwe PS: The "old man" is Klaus, a friend of mine
