  1. Hi Justin, i have a short but incomplete list. It was attached to an lecture from E. Gilbertson (1892) named "The Genialogy of the Myochin". The content based, inter alia, on an Japanese publication from 1891 and of some Myochin documents as well...... Unfortunately in German language. Uwe
  2. Thanks Justin, i`ll try it once more. Uwe

    Menpo!

Nice work Ian I would really like to see the whole armor. Is it misleading to assume, that the tataki-nuri finish of the suso-no-ita is pointing towards Kaga? Uwe
  4. I can`t imagine, that the plate can be fixed in position properly, during intensive movement , only by dint of this four looped brass rings Moreover, the absence of a backing in combination with the prominent shanks, could indicate a more "static" usage. Maybe i`m wide of the mark :? Uwe
  5. I`m still waiting for my books, without any response or further info Uwe
  6. Hi folks, Ian & Anthony mentioned in there book "Arms and Armor of the Samurai" (page83), that nagamaki first appeared at the middle of the Muromachi period. Maybe as a variant of the no dachi. Uwe
  7. .......so it seems to me, that it is not enough (only) to see :? There is still much to learn. Thanks Ford Uwe
  8. Very rare and interesting kabuto Roy. I think we discussed this here some time ago. Uwe
  9. ............don`t spotted the moon in the hitsu-ana at first Uwe
  10. Hi Ford, absolutely impressiv workmanship Let me ask a question, I have in mind looking at this tsuba. What is the meaning of (or depicts) this gold inlay "flowing" with the river? Regards Uwe
  11. Hi Tobias, there is a guy near Brilon, doing excellent work. Althought, a bit slow Uwe

    Armor Book

Hi md02geist ? start with Ian`s and Clive`s book for general understanding. Than continue with Trevor`s! Good luck! Uwe
  13. Eric/Jasper, undoubtedly Hosokawa impression. Hence, the Etchu Zunari is to be expected. Sode are rather later added, as Eric said. Suneate and Haidate seems matching. Kusazuri in kirisuke kozane with bear fur. Well, I have to admit that the Do is Iyozane. What confused me at first, was the rectangular shape of the scales (no dovetail notch) Uwe
  14. Hi Jasper, interesting Do, but can`t see iyozane plates. Looks nerikawa, or at least leather covered. Kote 16th century... ...don`t think so. Only first glance..... Uwe
  15. Hi Jean, comforting to see, that you had the same issues with light and reflections Uwe PS. Did you got a special guided tour? Where are the other visitors? I`ve been standing in a queue almost an hour
  16. I know, but I haven`t had no precise term for it This type of "cannon" from Eric looks like a thing called "Böller" or "saluting gun" in Europe...... Uwe
  17. Hi Piers, thanks for the help. The whole signature reads "Jinshin 1197 ban Wakamatsu ken" and seems genuine. It is faint and coverd with the same firm rust as the barrel. Probably, this teppo can be associated with the arsenal at "Wakamatsu castle" (Crane castle) Uwe
  18. Hi Piers, you mentioned "Jinshin". What does it mean? I`ve a teppo signet that way. Uwe
  19. Almost sure it`s a fake Bears Chinese characteristics IMHO. Uwe
  20. Blade looks not that bad, but can`t see boshi. Nice Habaki BTW.... Uwe
  21. Hi Jorgensen, sellers pics telling nothing about the blade, except that the tsuka is much too long for the sword Sorry to state that..... Uwe
  22. .....can`t see any linkage to the men. There is a chance for the dentist  Uwe
  23. Hi Ian, I`m sure you are right. So the mail keeps it`s convex form by the lacquer Uwe PS: May be, you can help me with the pics in my former post.....
  24. Hi John, yep, it`s a detachable Hana-no-ita (nose plate), there the gusari is mounted. I wonder how the Kuchi (mouth) guard (gusari) is fastened on the men. If this is not the case, it would be useless for protection :? Uwe PS: Mustache is missing.
  25. Hi Eric, it`s a very rare example of an Myochin school menpo. The catalog mentioned it as "the only one of its kind on record" this time. Uwe
