  1. Perhaps draw out a bit and get a little focus in Bruno. I think it's blurry
  2. These are mostly recent acquisitions.some you may have seen before. The kozuka that looks Soten people. Am I being lazy in it's attribution? The Tiger/leopard menuki are an error where the artist was working from images and thought that the leopard was in fact the female Tiger. This was quite a common misconception. I still think they are nice regardless.

  3. Unless you know how to neutralise the solvent cleaner or degreaser I suggest you just avoid this recommendation. Most degreasers that break down organic matter like oil and grease are highly alkaline or highly acidic and will continue to attack the surfaces of steel in a galvanic reaction long after you have thought you cleaned it off. Neutralisation is the only way here. You could go back to your sword a month later and find little pinprick corrosion that has eaten deep into the steel. Using goop off or any similar productsi isn't likely to cause too much concern if you intend to get it polished within a few days, but then why clean at all if that's the case. Good old detergent and a bit if elbow grease is far better and safer.
  4. Thank you Mike that's very interesting.I've a naginata Naoshi with exactly the same features as your new Ko Uda.almost identical.
  5. Just inventorying some new and old items and thought you might like to see them. Shakudo Tsuchime-ji in Iroe Takanikubori, gilt Crane and Rocks. Signed Otsuryuken Kaneyuki (Kenzui) This is very similar to one that sold through Sotheby's in 2005. As in last image.
  6. Just the one that is now sold.
  7. Hello. You need to show all of the Nakago with the tsuba and habaki etc removed. Shots of both sides in focus as best you can( I know its not easy) Regards
  8. Nice koshirae, IMHO that's no way to sell a sword all the emphasis is on the mounts. I cannot see any close ups of the blade, hamon, jihada the Nakago, the mei. These are all important considerations. If I'm wrong, so be it, but from those images that hamon runs off the kissaki so a little reassuring would be in order with better pictures of the kissaki.
  9. I forgot to add sir. The jihada is darker the hamon is milky. Your polisher has it the wrong way around. The kissaki may have sustained historical damages, but the hamon runs off so the sword now ,to a collector, is valueless. I am sorry I hope you learn from this. It may have been salvaged by a top togoshi or it may not,we will never know . I've just had a sword returned to me by an amateur polisher and I now see everything that the good people on here were telling me but I could not hear. I lost the money in my own poor polish in the UK and will now send it off to a professional to get it done properly . Gents in way of an apology my hitatsura tachi came back looking buffed and soul less and it wasn't even out of polish by much when I sent it off. I am astonished at the lack of skill and the front to still take my money. UK collectors ,You have been warned!
  10. Hamon runs off at the kissaki by the looks of it and in a few other places along the ha. If you look closely you will see this. These are classed as fatal flaws. The kissaki sustained damage and was reshaped .sadly in doing so your polisher has destroyed the blade. (If it was him) Sorry... no really happy ending here.
  11. I have no access to Tanobe Sensei. Paul Martin doesn't I'm told. I have a hitatsura hamon sword that I need done if Ted is my best ”insensitive” option then that's probably where I'll go. Afraid a five year wait for me is sadly undesirable. I'll talk to Ted.
  12. It looks like a midare but it's really hard to see. Hada you won't see until polish and even then not always.
  13. Who has had polishing services done in Japan by a named togoshi? Who do the Japanese recognise as the big names and what periods of swords do they excel at? Thank you
