I also have one which is oversized and I always wondered for what purpose it was made . I think that the one I have, which is very robust is from koto times, so I surmised it was built for heavy fighting, may be it was the type fitted on very long poles.

This is a great book Brian, I can confirm that. Pictures are clear and crisp and the info given are just unpublished before for us non Japanese reading gaijin. A big thank you to Jo Anseeuw and Luc Taelman for their unflinching efforts to achieve such a good work.

In France, I've noticed the same trend. In auction houses, prices have a tendency to soar without apparent reason. What I've understood here is that the typical regular attendant is rather aged, has money to spend and usually ignore internet. They don't really know the real value of those items and are buying the goods because is has aroused their attention or because they can't help buying something whatever it is. We call the the empty hand syndrome. On the contrary, you will see those very same people attending an arm show and arguing for hours to get a bargain of a few Euros on a normal priced good.

I think that I see like a major kizu on one side of the boshi, at the kaeri, like a tsuki no wa which follow the hamon.

How sad ! I happen to buy some books from him and he was a very kind person.

According to what I see we have here a real fake sword. Possibly chinese made. Parts of the koshirae appears legit except the tsuka ito. This is of course my personnal opinion.

Hello, This yari is in bad condition and seems to be of low quality. Beware of the bright red laquer which can hide huge flaws in the bohi. As Geraint says, very long kerakubi are usually seen on koto yari. I will skip this one......
