  15. You are right, such grooves are not unusual. I wanted to say that it's shape appears to me peculiar. The nakago seems to be very old, possibly koto era.
  16. The red laquered flame groove is very unusual. Long karakubi is the sign of an old blade. The blade seems to have gone through an acid treatment. Some pictures of the nakago will help. I agree with Ken, something doesn't feel quite right.
  17. Dear Piers, is this one available for purchase ?
  18. Dear Alan, I saw them but I thought at that time that their price were very high.....

    Mempo tsuba

I've never saw one in person. I saw some menuki but no tsuba. this theme is rather rare.
  20. I have learnt the hard way that most jitte that are on sale on the internet are fakes. This one could be legit but obviously it has a new shark skin handle.
  21. Dear Thomas, Thank you so much for your advice. I will keep my eyes open.
  22. Dear gentlemen, I am looking for two types of tsuba. As I am not a tsuba guy I rely on your expertise and knowledge. - The first type I need is a decent Yagyu tsuba. I will love to acquire the moon and water variation (suigetsu) or the breaking waves with droplets (tatsunami and marunami). Of course, I don’t have in mind to get an early one (from the late 17th century or even from the 18th century) but one made at the end of the Edo period which seems to be called Yagyu kodai or in the style of. - The second type of tsuba I am looking for is an iron tsuba made and signed by a swordsmith. I am not thinking here about a tosho tsuba but at a latter type made at the middle/end of the Edo era. These tsuba must be in good condition and their price realistic. Please PM me if you have some for sale. thank you for your attention.
