  1. Great story!! Amazing they came to you on such a path.
  2. Damn! Already have a fishing trip scheduled for that Saturday! When is next show?
  3. Thank you MauroP, looking into the Aizu-Shoami indeed some real similarities between them.
  4. Not making waves or trying to. I study and understand. Just would hope we can build a base of interest or else, it's just all of us chasing 100-800 swords.
  5. Ken I agree, and I have studied now for a while. Leaps and bounds from some swords to others. My point was that without a solid base to grow from, this gets exclusive.
  6. Great information but if worthy of study is a 10K waki, I am not long for this art!
  7. Umm, verified garbage. Please delete mods.
  8. Everything arrived safe and sound. Hope these better tsuba pictures can result in some kind of information on this octagonal guard that I fell in love with:
  9. I have zero knowledge about a Christie's auction, but seems their estimates were very low as to where many of the swords sold.
  10. Eduardo, I am about 100% sure I saw this sword on Ebay a while back. I think it's a shortened katana now waki length. Did you buy this sword or are you that seller?
  11. Seems market was a little bit stronger back then.
  12. Congrats! I think I know the sword, a magnificent work for sure.
  13. Thanks Jean. I will get better pictures when it arrives.
  14. Hey all, I have had a sword buy coming in from over seas (Aoi Art) but was scared it would arrive while I was off fishing last weekend so I had them hold the shipment. While on hold, I fell in love with a vintage Edo period (I hope) tsuba and figured why not save shipping costs and send them together? It's not signed, so no help there. I love the octagonal shape and the subtle landscape engraving. Anyone have any info on this piece? Thanks in advance. I am not a fittings guy at all.
  15. Looking through Shinshinto Mei Sesko reference, the last character on bottom is very different from the examples I could find. Others look ok, but something is not sitting right with me. I am new to this so don't put too much stock in that
  16. "Whats in the BOX?" Was that a great reference to the film "Se7en"?
  17. Nice sword indeed! Probable that someone has one here on NMB.
  18. Newbie here but only shinsa and papered swords exist? Asking for a friend.
  19. Nice! Would love to see more pictures, very pretty.
  20. I tried to hit this point in my post about how many swords made it to recent era; we just don't know. Did a smith always do everything the same way? Did he have students that made great works that he allowed signed? We can only judge by what's here, like a fossil record, but that is a small % of what was.
  21. Darcy thinks like a scientist, I like that!
  22. I would be interested in any kind of recap. I am in Massachusetts so I imagine I would have to travel for one of these shows, want to know it would be worth it.
