Hi John I agree with the first kanji but looking at the second kanji with a glass and torch I'm pretty sure it is 七 No idea how it would be read as a mei
-
Thanks Geraint I thought is was an warriors signal device but I expected it to be on a slender pole rather than a bit of 4" x 4"! Any ideas about the rest of the items?
-
Thanks Piers that about sums it all up

I bought this yesterday and assume it is just an ornamental tourist piece that is quite modern Typically Japanese with the hidden elements unseen (below the surface) It is 140mm long I like the shape and overall finish apart from the scale which makes the flying insect way too big Some detail is good and other detail not so good Over to you for any comments but this is more of a sharing post
-
First two images Choshu ju Kyoharu which doesn't seen right The design has, drum sticks, cord, drum (?) and festive banner (?) so I wonder what the collective design would be Last two images are very faint and I'll try to get better images later today and an image of the whole tsuba The image on this tsuba has the standard mountain, waves and waterfall

I bought this yesterday and would appreciate any info Rather than using two holes to hold it in position it looks like it would clip on belt but what do I know - tourist piece? The mei may me Yusen Around 50 x 30 x 30mm and not very old
-
I like Sado tsuba and have a few First thing you notice about Sado tsuba is the weight almost irrespective of size
-
Thanks for all your comments I may be able to dig a bit further

I think Tosa Myochin is not a bad call but the hitsuna doesn't appear to fit and is it older than this school? There is also that heavy worked mimi
-
Looks like an unknown maker

Has this come to dead end already?
-
Maybe Shigeuji H08534 - Choshu hagi, nagato Family = Kanda H08535 Takata in Echigo province Shoami So neither is Akasaka! With the thicker rim I'm leaning towards Shoami but you may know better
-
That must be the quickest reply ever - thanks I'll check it out
-
Can anyone help with this mei? Maybe something like 董重 Shige? 日 It may be Akasaka circa 1700 Yatsuhashi bridge and Iris although iris looks a bit dodgy

Hi It's been about 4 months since my last post so for those that may have missed the original post the details are below The link below will enable you to see all the available tsuba https://www.dropbox.com/s/fakjukzmer8vmla/NMB%20listing.pdf?dl=0 Also a link to my LuLu books and a low quality screen shot https://www.lulu.com/search?adult_audience_rating=00&page=1&pageSize=10&q=greville+cooke Grev UK

For me it's books every time but I understand how having details on a phone etc can be useful when at Fairs I've used photo books in the past but waited until they were on offer, but as my collection got bigger it was too expensive Now I use Lulu for my two tsuba books that are for sale and a private book that combined my collection and the Birmingham collection This was much cheaper to produce than the photo books

What a wonderful surface on No 131, I'd have had it as earlier than late 18th cent but still learning but one I'd like to own
-
Ron I hope your selling gets better in the future especially now that you have voiced your comments You could put in something in your post stating items bought to be paid for in two days I try to pay in a few hours but once I did forget to pay and after a nice reminder paid ASAP Good luck Grev

I think round 2 or 3 is fine I like the (apparent) randomness of your pieces keeps up the interest Keep them coming and glad your computer has been sorted
-
That is very nice with a great shape and lucky you could get this in your homeland - double bonus
