  9. this is about all i can find. not to say its him but its a start Okamoto Tetsugendou Tetsugendou Shouraku is counted as one of the "Kyoto san meikou(three great craftsman of Kyoto)". His name was Genbei and signed Tetsugendou Shouraku and also Toshiyuki. In the prime of manhood, he changed the character of "gen". Tetsugendou was outstanding in technique of tetsu(iron) tsuba and was never second to none. To many people's regret, he died in An'ei 9th.
  10. Toshiyuki,,higo yes i think? they look very nice.
  11. a lot of magnolia wood is used in the states, heard of some others but not good reports.
  12. was that pix a link if so it did not open for me...would love to see a 38K tsuba.
  13. from me, photos can wash out a lot on nakago's, bigger Sukesada name is often gimei ill give you that, if I was bidding id ask around before committing. Ill give it the upper hand as one heck of a sword in gunto mount so that right there is why its at the price it is, the owner who took it to war had some moo la to have all the quality work done. IMHO its worth a few K more for the right military collector and maybe much more if the blade turns up good.

  18. This question came up from a NMB member on a Yoshihara Yoshindo that's up for auction on Ebay. Does the Minister of culture dept. check the mei for authentication on modern blades? or do they just register the sword. Some of or Nippon members should be able to help here. Q: What documentation will come with the proving it was made by Master Yoshindo? Thank you, Bill Marsh Jul-11-07 A: We have only the registration paper. we will be able to sned a copy with the sword. We will apply export license to minister of culture. we will have to return the original to the register office. we don't think theier is fake signature of registered modern blade in Japan. Minister of culture department controls number of modern blades in Japan .

Steve, those have and have not's don't add up to much when it comes down to it. Being rich and or connected sometimes leaves one a bit Jaded, honor before bragger is what counts.
