    kantei

dang time zone i was going to do a AF joke, about hearing from a polisher who uncovred a Muramasa wraped in a gunto steel, after over polishing it...ya all have a merry fools day.
  15. if you cant get the pix to attach try reducing them, if all else fails send them to me at h2obro1@aol.com and ill post them for you.
  16. Im in line with Reinhard this thread need to be sent to whence it came the Sword form....after all its not Nihonto or better yet to the great trashbin in the sky.
  17. Your thinking of the prices of the 80s, the Japanese market took a dive and so did sword prices...the elusive Masamune pulling in a cool Million ...is now half that. 2500 is a ruff shod price...with out papers and polish...with them it could be three to four times depending. ive never had luck with the stones...others do a good job, stop any active red rust wit a bone rubbing and oil it is all id do. come up with a fair price and let the collectors here have a go at it or Ebay it are options, I think its worthy of a restoration myself. Alas im a brokeazzFer
  18. 450 for a new top of the line shirasaya, if you go the polish route new habaki as well, id have a silver one done to go with shinto, about the same in cost. or you might get away with sliver foil to the one thats on it. did the tsuka split well or was it trashed? value now around 2500 for the right buyer. fig it some where in the range of three hundred years old. maybe more. A very nice mino blade, worth the polish i say but your going to get alot more saying no its not. lucky find.
  19. http://www.Japanese-swords.com/pages/new.htm scroll down to Nakago Nuki, you can make something to this effect at home on the cheap. 1 x 2 3" long small hammr. wrap the blade with a cloth to make sure you dont cut yourself or hit the blade ...lay the block flat on the blade light taps on each side of the tsuka...just take your time and be safe. Mino is the school and i said shito as it covers alot of time and my butt
  20. after talking to many vets over the years at gun shows I found out that they were ordered to grind off the Mum (which many took as Mon when talking to them) off the rifles they were bring home to dishonor the Royal family chrysanthemum. Seems the Mon on tsuka's faired better than the rifles, if you have the either feel lucky.
  21. we dont have a true sugata pix, so far Mino, shinto. If you have the peg out of ivory hole, try what Grey suggested to remove the tsuka, 90% sure it will be signed.
  22. maybe it came that way, you sure he paited it? Maybe it was used by Ninji at night time. Oh wait today is not April first...sorry carry on.
  23. Hi John Sorry I was not putting Seki-sama down...I must have been out to lunch the day that he was talked about and his accomplishments. I would like to learn more if anyone wants to post a bio. Very envious of your trip and getting to work in a forge...host one for me. Btw your book should be waiting for you when you get home, or maybe not if i remember how long the last package took. Have fun.
  24. It is a registration paper, all swords are registered in Japan, don't think id send this to Canada for polish, more likely Bob Benson in Hawaii, http://www.bushidojapaneseswords.com/swordpolish.htm or Big Mo. http://www.nihontoantiques.com/sword_re ... 20page.htm
  25. yep its gone...what was the selling price Max?
