this in from Afu sama Stephen, If I were reading that as a Japanese sword smith's name, i would read it as NAMISHIGE. However, nami does have other pronuciations, such as HA. But if someone has a Paul Chin (Chen?) sword, and this is how he signs them, then I would read it Paul Chin, and the actual pronunciation in Chinese would not be something we would know how to say, even if we could see it spelled, because it is a tonal language. I think there's a bit of a mix up here, the new sword is the one we were working with him on, he has on the other hand a Paul Chen it should not have been brought in to the thread but Bugs joke on PC prompted that, Jocks new blade is mounted in new Koshirae as I expected from his pix. Jock you have a posted a bit of repeats and ill delete them for sake of space, more pix of the blade if you please, looks like a gunto that got the Special treatment "I can make that blade pretty" by a novice.

in order to get at the nakago the end caps in the case of Police swords have a nut that needs to be taken off. it does look like it may house a forged blade.

Harvy make sure your not useing oil of clove from the drugest, it can and i have it seen before turn the blade a off color, a light machine oil will do the job in place of chogi. It does look alot better. Grey might be able to tell you how to remove the rest of the black, would a stain remover work? For now it looks fine.
