  1. how big of a foopa would it be to remove the wood saya and have a new one mounted with the fittings....something like black stone finish...all the worm wood takes away from the brilliance of the metal work IMHO
  2. last few really dont show much in out of state polish. Hamachi is in good shape so not overly polished.
  3. more to come fittings looks like it was added to by someone other than Japanese
  4. No zip files? twelve individual letters Oh Vey!...lol ok here we go
  5. Peter click on the file highlight, remember sometime back...we had a thread on keyhole mekugiana. anyone?
  6. well my last post was a bit tongue in cheek, this is a response from the seller, fishing for info on the blade. He does have some items im sure he bought in Japan, and many that are cast repo's....here's what he said.
  7. T if all else fails you can email them to me and ill post them. reduce, crop and they should post.
  8. im thinking the sword was made in Nippon. Maybe Osaka
  9. ive know Ed for years, hes a good guy and like Mark said he dont want to hassle with mailing that many swords. Me i have the time but not close enough or with the bucks.
  10. No, i think its the third down on the right of the pix from F&G. its on page 63 i think, id do not have the book anymore to tell you what it says about it sorry.
  11. wonderful thanks for sharing, how about a snow blower trade?
  12. http://home.earthlink.net/~steinrl/military.htm id rival this as the best, depends i guess on who was putting up the info first. like i posted over on the other board, id think its the one in F&G
  13. very nice mark, if its back on the market let me know. VA go to drop me something soon so ill be in the buying mode, i pray.
  14. more than a few, seen a Sukesada in cherry bark that was a killer!
  15. Jock this is your first post. Had you said im putting this on Ebay/ or posted it in Ebay sales thread/ saying i need your help to give a buyer the understanding of what you had. It would have went a long way, it seemed like you were hiding someting from us, or more, expect to see this gone soon.
  16. if anyone thought it true gendait well thats too bad for them, but at that price and if you dont mind spending the money dont think theres anything wrong with buying it...esp if you want to use it for iado...or just to compair, which i think was Brunos point of buying it.
  17. looking at his past sales, the smith is getting the Kissaki closer than this one. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0195500153

    Two New Tsuba

Fred I like them both the first more so, its just some ppl me mainly dont have the understanding of tsuba as likes of Ford Pete and other Hi dedoos...prob why so few remarks.
  19. absolutely right, fell into that trap twice, Pete if he just used WD 40 and a soft cloth I don't see the damage except for the lack of red rust, which is good. Shawn its best to think along the lines of total preservation of the sword, IMHO its worth it, id email the bent nakago to some PPL and see what they think about the cost of fixing it. Now to some its part of the history of the sword and should not be changed.
  20. i dont know about the rest of the members, but id be willing to donate a bit to get this happen.
  21. i think he stoped before great value was lost. You have a fine sword and the school are well know for good fighing blades. i think a good smith could fix the nakago,or maybe a togi. What do you think Ted T, Bob B, Jon B? id give it hard thought to have it restored, as in polish and in shira saya. the sword is from the mid to late 1600's and a very nice find.
  22. As most of you know when I stepped down from moderator I passed my torch over to Ted, I felt I had found the best, and was happy to be right. He raised the level to new heights, with a firm hand and higher education of nihonto, this is sad news as I see few that could fill the void Ted leaves. Thanks for your time Ted, please stop in and drop some of that wealth of education on the more serious threads, and those's great little nuggets on of humor on the less, you'll be missed yes but never forgotten. Hai Domoarigatogozamasta!!!
